New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge has reportedly drawn the ire of his bosses following his “all-in” comments last week. As per Jon Heyman of the New York Post, some people in management were left “annoyed” by the words of the 3-time MVP.

Last week, the Yankees were eliminated from the postseason. A 4-3 loss in Game 3 of the American League Division Series (ALDS) saw the Tampa Bay Rays complete a 3-0 sweep of their division rivals.

This marked a second straight year in which the Yankees were eliminated by an AL East team in the ALDS. In 2025, Judge and his team suffered a 3-1 defeat in the best-of-five series against the Toronto Blue Jays.

This time, Judge was not a part of the team. After missing over 3 months of action due to a rib fracture, the right fielder returned to the team in September. However, after just 7 games, he landed on the injured list once again as he suffered a right calf strain.

Despite heavy speculation, he was not part of the ALDS roster. The Yankees were blown away by their rivals and suffered another early exit from the playoffs.

With this loss, the World Series title drought stretches up to 17 years, with their last victory coming in 2009. This is the second-longest title drought in their franchise history.

Following their ALDS exit, Judge claimed that his side should go “all in“ during the coming offseason in order to improve the team and fill the holes.

We’re the Yankees. I feel like they should go all-in and do what they need to do. If we got holes, it’s finding certain players or personnel, whatever we need; you gotta go out there and get it.

Aaron Judge said as per YES Network

The Yankees did draw some criticism in the last offseason. Instead of new names, they decided to bring back the old core and re-signed Paul Goldschmidt, Tim Hill, Ryan Yarbrough, Paul Blackburn, and Amed Rosario. The only huge free agent name they signed was Cody Bellinger, whom they brought back on a 5-year, $162.5 million deal.

Even during the trade deadline, the only 2 moves they made were bringing in Heliot Ramos and Luis Garcia Jr. from the San Francisco Giants and the Washington Nationals, respectively. Some argued that the team passed up signing marquee names like Alex Bregman, Kyle Tucker, and Bo Bichette in the offseason.

Judge’s comment has now sparked some backlash in the Yankees clubhouse. As per Jon Heyman’s report in the New York Post (subscription required), 1-2 big names in the management were upset with his comments.

One or two Yankees bigs were slightly to somewhat annoyed that captain/three time MVP Aaron Judge suggested the $320M Yankees could spend more after they were swept by the Rays in the division series.

This report has also sparked some mixed opinions. While some have slammed the team’s front office, some have criticized Judge and his poor performance in the offseason.

There is also a huge payroll gap between the Yankees and the Rays. As per Spotrac, the Bronx Bombers have the 3rd-highest payroll at $308 million, only behind the Los Angeles Dodgers ($339 million) and the New York Mets ($346 million).

Meanwhile, the Rays have the 3rd-lowest payroll at $95 million. The only two teams that have a lower payroll than them are the Miami Marlins ($83 million) and the Cleveland Guardians ($74 million), against whom they are down 2-1 in the American League Championship Series (ALCS).

NY Radio host slams Aaron Judge for his “all-in” comments

After the New York Yankees suffered another playoff disappointment, Aaron Judge did not hold back and urged the team to go “all-in” during the offseason. After the report from Jon Heyman, a NY Radio host slammed the outfielder for his comments.

While speaking about his on Honda SportsNite, radio host Sal Licata went ballistic on Judge. He claimed that it was about time somebody held him accountable and lashed out at the Yankees captain.

It’s about time somebody held Judge accountable. I mean, this is the second straight year that Judge threw his manager under the bus. … He has been the face of the team since 2017 … And the only time they got to the World Series was when Judge had Soto as his running mate. Juan Soto was the difference-maker, not Aaron Judge. So good for the Yankees being upset that Judge publicly criticizes them. Judge does need to be held accountable.

Judge has often received flak for his performances in the postseason. In 11 seasons with the team, he has only played in 1 World Series, where he struggled offensively against the Dodgers.

While he did break out of that slump with a home run in Game 5, he later committed a huge error that led to the Yankees having a meltdown and blowing a 5-0 lead. They ended up losing the game 7-6 and lost the World Series title 4-1.

It will be interesting to see what moves the team makes in the coming offseason after this saga. As per reports, they are likely to extend a qualifying offer to David Bednar. However, it is unlikely they will make the same offer to Jazz Chisholm Jr., who is an impending free agent.
