It is time for the big one in MLB. After a grueling season, it is finally time for the 2026 World Series. The American League Champions, the Tampa Bay Rays, will take on the National League Champions, the Milwaukee Brewers, in the 122nd Fall Classic starting this Friday.

The two teams entered the 2026 season after having contrasting seasons in 2025. The Rays missed the postseason completely last year as they finished with a 77-85 record.

The Brewers, on the other hand, finished with the best record in the league and reached the National League Championship Series (NLCS), where they went up against the defending champions, the Los Angeles Dodgers. The NL Central side got swept 4-0 in the best-of-seven series and suffered another heartbreak.

This year, the Brewers once again finished with the best record in the league at 103-59. After eliminating the San Diego Padres 3-1 in the National League Division Series (NLDS), they faced the Dodgers once again in the NLCS.

This time, though, they were the ones who celebrated a sweep. They crushed the Dodgers 4-0 in the best-of-seven series and ended their 2-year reign as MLB champions.

As for the Rays, they were the team that broke through this year. After missing the playoffs in back-to-back seasons, many didn’t expect them to go far this year.

However, the AL East side stunned everyone and won the division title with a 98-64 record ahead of the New York Yankees. In the American League Division Series (ALDS), they swept the Bronx Bombers 3-0 before beating the Cleveland Guardians 4-2 in the American League Championship Series (ALCS) to set up a historic World Series.

This Fall Classic will guarantee a new champion. The Brewers and the Rays are among 5 MLB teams, along with the Colorado Rockies, the San Diego Padres, and the Seattle Mariners, that have never won the World Series. One of these two teams will remove their name from this unwanted list this year.
