Deshaun Watson is playing like he’s still in Houston. The 31-year-old delivered another statement win on Sunday, taking down the Titans in Tennessee.
The Cleveland Browns had to fight tooth and nail to secure the win. The game came close to rolling over to overtime after running back Tony Pollard scored his third touchdown to level the score with less than a minute left.
Watson led a four-play, 50-yard drive to set up a field goal. Andre Szmyt converted the FG from 32 yards, and the Browns won.
Being in this league for 10 years now, I understand that a lot of games are going to come down to that, if not every game. So, if we’re close enough in it and we have those opportunities, we just got to lock in and … that’s where the pressure and the most important [thing], you got to really be on your P’s and Q’s.

According to Pro Football Focus, it was Deshaun Watson’s fifth game-winning drive this year. He has more game-winning drives than MVP favorite Josh Allen (4) and Broncos QB Bo Nix (4).

Watson completed 25 of 36 passes for 308 yards with one interception and scored a rushing touchdown. Running back Quinshon Judkins rushed 17 times for 96 yards and scored 2 touchdowns. Wide receiver KC Concepcion caught 8 passes for 129 yards.
The Browns traded for Watson in 2022. He signed a five-year, $230 million guaranteed contract. However, harassment lawsuits and injuries kept him out of action for long periods.
Fans urged the owners to cut ties with the ex-Clemson star. However, he stayed and competed for the QB1 job. He beat out fan favorite Shedeur Sanders to win the starter’s job in preseason.
In seven games, Deshaun Watson has thrown for 1482 yards, 7 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions. He has been sacked 25 times as well.

Deshaun Watson and the Cleveland Browns could have had more wins
With the win in Tennessee, the Browns are 5-2 and lead the AFC North—same record as the Pittsburgh Steelers, who defeated the New Orleans Saints in the first-ever NFL game in Paris, France. However, the Browns could have led the division with six wins—a costly mistake kept them from doing so.

In Week 5, the Browns played the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium. Second-year wide receiver Isaiah Bond dropped a pass from Watson inside the Jets’ red zone. If Bond had caught hold of it, then he would have scored a touchdown to secure the win. Instead, they lost 17-12.
Sure, Deshaun Watson didn’t have a great game—he threw 15 of 33 completions for 155 yards and one touchdown. The 3x Pro Bowler acknowledged his lackluster outing to shield Bond from fans’ ire.
#Browns QB Deshaun Watson on his message to Isaiah Bond after key drops vs. the #Jets: "Proud of him, it’s a big role. KC was a big factor in this game plan, and for IB to not get those reps that KC took all week…you have to be proud and look at it in an encouraging way." https://t.co/hA0C63k3DF

However, former Browns WR Jarvis Landry didn’t mince his words. “If you can’t catch that without gloves, you need to put some gloves on, fam. I don’t care if you put the rain gloves on, if you put the glove with ‘Stickum’ on,” Landry said on the 4th & South podcast.
Jarvis Landry calls out Isaiah Bond for his costly dropped pass against the Jets, insisting the Browns receiver needs to adjust after the mistake and live up to Cleveland’s high standards for its wideouts. "Isaiah Bond, my dog, if you can’t catch that s**t without gloves, you need to put some gloves on, fam. I don’t care if you put the rain gloves on, if you put the glove with ‘Stickum’ on. He was another key piece to why we didn’t win. I’m just gonna be honest. I’m catching that s**t. Period. Ain’t no ifs, ands, or buts. If I drop one without gloves, best believe the next time I come on the field, I got gloves on or I got tape on my fingers or something. I ain’t going out there to chance it again. He ain’t get the memo. The receiver standard over there, that s**t way higher than where you played at. And somebody got to say something. So, I’mma step up right here, and I’mma say something to you, my man. We did not win because that dropping s**t is contagious." (via @4thAndSouthPod)

Bond has taken snaps in all seven games, but Watson didn’t target the former Texas Longhorn not even once in the last two games. He last caught a pass in the Jets game.
Next week the Browns travel to Pittsburgh to play the Steelers. The Browns won the reverse fixture in Week 4. Deshaun Watson threw 24 completions for 268 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.
