Jonathan Taylor Doesn’t Like Reporter Asking Him About Colts Rebuild Question
Jonathan Taylor isn't ready to give up on the Colts season just yet even though the team is 2-5 and are trading away their best players.

After three straight defeats, the 2-5 Indianapolis Colts are cleaning house. They have already traded DeForest Buckner and Quenton Nelson. Jonathan Taylor could be the next to go.
The Colts went 7-1 before sending first-rounders to the Jets for cornerback Sauce Gardner. The Colts won just once in their last nine games. Indy missed the playoffs as well.
Quarterback Daniel Jones signed an extension to stay as the starter. Indy lost to (4-3) Baltimore and (5-1) Kansas City to start 2026 before picking up wins against (2-5) Houston and (1-4-1) Washington.
After that, they lost the next three to (5-2) Pittsburgh, (1-5) Tennessee, and (6-0) Minnesota. As three of four teams have a negative record, the Colts are second in the AFC South behind the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Nevertheless, the Colts’ owners don’t seem to believe the team can turn the season around, so they are stockpiling draft picks by trading some of their best players.
The Colts received a 2027 third-round draft pick and a 2028 fifth-round draft pick from the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for eight-time Pro Bowl guard Quenton Nelson. The San Francisco 49ers sent a 2027 fourth-round draft pick to acquire All-Pro defensive tackle DeForest Buckner.
Despite the fire sale, running back Jonathan Taylor refuses to call it a rebuild. “You think we’re rebuilding?” Taylor fired back at a reporter who popped the question. The Pro Bowl rusher said the Colts aren’t thinking about tanking the season.
I would say we’re going out there trying to win. At the end of the day, we’re going out there trying to win. Being a competitor, and not only for myself, but for everybody in this locker room, no one goes out there to wave the white flag and surrender.

#Colts RB Jonathan Taylor was asked if he’s OK with being part of a rebuild. “You think we’re rebuilding?” Reporters: Uh, based on this week, yeah. JT: “We going out there trying to win. … No one goes out there to wave the white flag and surrender.” https://t.co/XdXOHJ4nfL

Super Bowl winner teases the ideal trade partner for Jonathan Taylor
Taylor has been one of the few sparks in the Colts’ offense this year. After seven games (excluding the TNF clash between the Packers and the Panthers), Taylor leads the league in rushing touchdowns with 8.
The Colts star shares that title with three others: 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey, Cowboys RB Javonte Williams, and Bills quarterback Josh Allen.

Taylor has 140 carries and 587 yards (4.2 yards per carry). He has also caught 17 passes for 178 yards. Per Adam Schefter, contending teams that require an elite running back are in the market for Taylor. One of them is the defending champions, the Seahawks.
Super Bowl winner Richard Sherman linked his former team to JT in the recent episode of his YouTube show. Sherman noted that Seattle already landing Nelson should compel them to return to Indy for Taylor.
I’m sure John Schneider [Seahawks GM] and Ed Dodds are having those conversations right now about what it would take. I’m guessing it would take a Day 1 pick and maybe a little bit more to get [Jonathan] Taylor out of Indianapolis. He’s the guy who could help this team the most. Everybody needs great running backs, but they need one really badly.

The Seahawks parted ways with Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker in the offseason, leaving them with Zach Charbonnet, George Holani, and Velus Jones Jr. They signed free agent Emanuel Wilson and drafted former Notre Dame running back Jadarian Price in the first round.
Charbonnet hasn’t played this season due to an ACL injury, which he suffered during last season’s divisional playoff game. Holani, Wilson, Jones, and Price have shared snaps in his absence.
Taylor would instantly become the best running back on the Colts roster. Seattle can acquire Taylor by trading at least a first-round pick to the Colts, according to NFL insider Tony Pauline.
Sources from the league say the @Colts are looking for a 1st rnd pick for Jonathan Taylor but his value is more in the range of the Christian McCaffrey trade from 2022.

The Colts drafted Taylor with the 41st overall pick in 2020. He has rushed 1691 times for 8185 yards (4.8 yards per carry) and scored 77 touchdowns in 91 games.
Taylor has caught 7 receiving touchdowns as well. He earned an All-Pro selection after racking up 332 carries, 1,811 yards, 106.5 yards per game, and 18 touchdowns.
