Brooks Koepka seems to have rekindled his beef with Bryson DeChambeau. In a recent appearance on Dan Rapaport’s show, the 5-time major champion slammed the LIV Golf star over his drama with Rory McIlroy at the 2025 Masters Tournament.

In the 89th edition of the Masters Tournament, DeChambeau and McIlroy were the final pairing in the final round. At this stage, McIlroy was looking for his first win at Augusta while chasing a career grand slam. Meanwhile, DeChambeau was hoping to upset him in the final round of a major once again.

During the 2024 U.S. Open, McIlroy was leading the tournament in the final round. However, he slipped up a bit near the end, allowing DeChambeau to stage an epic comeback and lift his 2nd major title.

In the final round of the 2025 Masters, DeChambeau did lead early on but failed to maintain his lead. At the end of the day, McIlroy was the one lifting the title and wearing the green jacket for the first time in his career as he beat Justin Rose in the playoff.

DeChambeau later told the reporters that he (McIlroy) did not speak with him throughout the day.

At the PGA Championship in May 2025, McIlroy claimed he had no idea what DeChambeau was expecting from him. The World No.2 expressed that they were out trying to win the Masters Tournament and not have some formal chit-chat.

Brooks Koepka revisited this drama during his recent conversation with Dan Rapaport. The former World No.1 defended McIlroy’s stance and slammed DeChambeau.

I mean, he (Bryson) lives in his own world. I don’t think many people want to talk to him regardless. But, I wouldn’t have spoken to Rory, and I don’t think he would have spoken to me and it would have been totally fine.

Koepka and DeChambeau have a huge history. It all started after the former called out the latter for slow play during an event in 2019. DeChambeau then called out Koepka over his fitness during a Twitch stream in 2020.

The two then continued to take shots at each other in the coming years. Then in 2022, they stunned the golf world by leaving the PGA Tour and joining LIV Golf.

While playing for the then Saudi-backed tour, the two of them seemingly put their differences behind them. They even teamed up for a 2-v-2 showdown against the duo of McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler in December 2024.

Given their past, it will be interesting to see if DeChambeau hits back. At the moment, the 2-time U.S. Open winner is currently navigating a major career crossroads with the uncertainty regarding LIV Golf’s future.

Brooks Koepka is also annoyed with Rory McIlroy

While Brooks Koepka defended Rory McIlroy in the Bryson DeChambeau incident at the 2025 Masters Tournament, he is also annoyed with the current World No.2. The reason for this? McIlroy’s recent major wins.

Up until the 2025 Masters Tournament, Koepka led McIlroy in major wins. After McIlroy won 4 major titles from 2011 to 2014, his winning run in major tournaments came to a halt.

Koepka, meanwhile, took off in 2017, and by 2019 he had tied his European rival in major victories with back-to-back wins at the U.S. Open (2017, 2018) and the PGA Championship (2018, 2019).

He then overtook McIlroy’s tally of 4 wins with his 3rd PGA Championship triumph in 2023. His win at the Oak Hill Country Club saw him become a 5-time major champion.

Since then, his progress has also been halted. The golfer has struggled in the majors and missed some cuts.

With the Masters win in 2025, McIlroy tied him on 5 wins. Earlier this year, he took the lead 6-5 with his historic title defense at Augusta National. His one-shot win saw him become just the 4th golfer after Jack Nicklaus, Sir Nick Faldo, and Tiger Woods to go back-to-back at the Masters Tournament.

So Koepka, who had taken the lead, is now once again chasing McIlroy. This is something that has left him annoyed. However, it also does fire him up to win more.

Yeah, I mean, it’s annoying, because I feel like I’ve let a few years of my career kind of slip by.

The 2026 season was Koepka’s first season back on the PGA Tour after leaving LIV Golf in January. In 16 starts, he made the cut in 11 of them and recorded 1 top-10 finish. He will certainly be hoping for a much better showing than this in the next season.
