The 2026 Ballon d’Or Ceremony will take place on Monday, October 26, at the London Palladium in London. Ahead of this event, former World No.1 golfer Justin Rose has backed Harry Kane to win this prestigious men’s football award.

The Ballon d’Or is an annual football association award presented by French magazine France Football. This award is given to honor the player who has been judged to have performed the best in the previous season.

This year, Harry Kane is one of the favorites to win this honor. The FC Bayern Munich striker finished the 2025-26 season with 73 goals in all competitions. Apart from that, he lifted the Bundesliga (Germany’s top division) and the DFB-Pokal (Germany’s top cup competition).

He also guided England to a third-place finish in the 2026 FIFA World Cup held in the USA, Mexico and Canada.

On Sunday, Justin Rose extended his support to Kane. The 2013 U.S. Open winner took to his X account and claimed that Kane “totally deserves” to win this award.

This man totally deserves the Ballon d’Or tomorrow night… We are all behind you @HKane

Rose, being from England, would love to see his fellow countrymen win this huge honor. The last Englishman to win this award was Michael Owen in 2001. If Kane does win this award, he will become just the 5th England International to win this after Owen, Kevin Keegan (1978, 1979), Sir Bobby Charlton (1966), and Sir Stanley Matthews (1956).

Justin Rose is ready to welcome back LIV Golfers as the breakaway tour’s future remains hanging

One of the biggest storylines in golf right now is the future of LIV Golf. While the league has proposed a LIV Golf 2.0 model, its future is still in some doubt. Justin Rose is ready to welcome back some of the LIV Golfers who left the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour in the first place.

In 2022, several top names from the top two tours left to play for LIV Golf. Backed by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) of Saudi Arabia, the league landed some of the high-profile names on lucrative deals.

Rose was among those who stayed loyal to the PGA Tour and DP World Tour. Fast forward to 2026, and LIV’s future is now unclear.

Earlier this year, they lost the financial support of the PIF and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in September. A few days ago, reports claimed that Jon Rahm had reached a separation agreement with the league.

While many top stars are heading for the exit, a direct return to the PGA Tour may not be that easy. They could be playing in the DP World Tour in the 2027 season, but an immediate return to golf’s premier tour is uncertain.

Amidst this chaos, Rose is ready to welcome back those who left. During his appearance at the DP World Tour India Championship in New Delhi, the 46-year-old said he has “no hard feelings” for golfers who left.

No hard feelings from my point of view. Everyone is welcome back. It’s great for golf for players to be able to play against the best players in the world as often as we can.

Justin Rose said as per Sam Frost

At the moment, it is uncertain what steps players will need to take if they want to come back to the PGA Tour. Meanwhile, a report from The Financial Times claimed that at least 15 golfers have tentatively committed to sign up for LIV Golf 2.0. Only time will tell what happens with them.
