“Still trying to push for better in our country”- Milwaukee Bucks’ Head Coach on Kyle Rittenhouse’s Verdict

“Still trying to push for better in our country”- Milwaukee Bucks’ Head Coach on Kyle Rittenhouse’s Verdict

Milwaukee Bucks are surely not happy with the verdict on Kyle Rittenhouse’s case. The jury has acquitted Kyle of all the charges even though he shot two men.  The Bucks, Head coach Mike Budenholzer said that the organization would “continue to fight for better.”

Kyle Rittenhouse is a seventeen-year-old boy from Antioch, Illinois who fatally shot two men and wounded another three just a day after when the police shot Jacob Blake. A local Kenosha police officer shot Blake seven times because he thought Blake possessed some illegal weapon when in fact there wasn’t any.

This led to the initiation of the “Black Lives Matter” movement which further exhibited all the brutalities that the police committed towards the Black people. Racial discrimination is eminent in America, and the black people had been unjustly accused of for everything.

Rittenhouse was charged with two homicides, an attempted homicide, two life endangerment, and for the illegal possession of a firearm along with the violation of the curfew. The trial took place on November 2021, where the jury dismissed the unlawful possession of a firearm and the curfew violation and further acquitted him of all the homicide and endangerment charges.

The Milwaukee Bucks will continue to fight

The Milwaukee Bucks performed a wildcat strike during the NBA’s playoff last season after these incidents transpired.

In January both the Bucks and the Detroit Pistons knelt down for 7 seconds after the tip-off to pay their respect to Jacob Blake; each second for each bullet. This was to showcase their protest against the Judge’s decision of now charging the shooter for Blake’s murder.

Milwaukee Bucks’ Head coach Mike Budenholzer told the reporters, “Still trying to push for better in our country. Hoping for improvement. Organizationally, just continue to fight for social justice, for the better. But at the same time, have to abide by the jury and the decision and the verdict and continue to fight for better.”

Brooklyn Nets’ coach Steve Nash also voiced his opinions and said, “Clearly these situations are disappointing and it’s important to not become demoralized and for people to continue to fight for the type of justice and equality that serves all.”

Minnesota’s Karl-Anthony Towns Tweeted “This system is broken” portraying his displeasure with how things are turning out.

Atlanta Hawks’ Point Guard also changed his profile to a black color one, and Tweeted:

Warriors coach Steve Kerr also voices his concerns for the gun laws in America. He said, “It wasn’t a shocking verdict, but one that poses great risk going forward if we continue to go down this path of open carry and states determining that people can carry, even underage people, weapons of war. This is America. Treading down a dangerous path.”

The jury’s decision of not charging Kyle Rittenhouse for the illegal possession of the gun because the laws didn’t apply on that model let alone for the homicides he committed has enraged people. The hashtag “white privilege” has been trending on Twitter.
