Rousey suffered from the disease named ‘apraxia’. It is not exactly a disease but a neurological speech sound disorder that makes children incapable of forming coherent, intelligent sentences. Apraxia causes the umbilical cord to wrap around the neck creating a learning disability in children.

Though, a 2015 ABC report states that Rousey suffered from deafness but that was a piece of misleading news. Rousey states on her disease, “At first I was tested for deafness. They thought maybe my pronunciation was off because I was hearing things differently. But it was really I had all these words perfectly arranged in my head, it’s just when they tried to come out of my mouth they sounded different. It was kind of like there was a divide between my brain and my mouth,”

However, some intensive sessions of speech therapy with Minot State University specialists have made her overcome this disorder.

Surprisingly, Ronda did not know much about her disorder and came to know about it when a speech pathologist from Denver, Laura Smith mentioned the disorder to Ronda Rousey at a book signing event in May 2015. Rousey recalls that event and comments, “I actually ended up reading through the whole thing that night and was like, ‘Oh my God, this is all exactly it. This is exactly what it was,” Rousey said.

I didn’t know it was actually apraxia until that moment. She really taught me a lot about myself that day and I can’t thank her enough for it,” she added. Rousey did spread awareness about it after knowing it from Laura Smith.

However, Ronda Rousey is doing fine now. The colossal female fighter has not been seen in WWE in recent times after she faced a horrific finger injury. We, the wrestling fans, are eagerly waiting for her to overcome all the odds and return to the ring as soon as possible.
