Fernando Alonso, the 2 times world champion, made his comeback to F1 in 2021 at the age of 40 joining French outfit Alpine. Alpine became the latest F1 team to reveal their livery for 2022 on Monday and the Renault back team is hoping to better their 2021 season under new regulations.

Fernando Alonso on the post-qualifying interview in 2021 Turkish GP replied to a question on Alpine plan in a cheeky way saying “El Plan… you have to wait a few months to know it. You need to believe in El plan for now,”. Little did he know his words will create a commotion on the internet.

Fans started using the Word ‘El Plan’ on Social Media platforms to support their favorite driver and be a part of many references scattered around the internet. Fernando Alonso even released T-shirts and snapbacks with the word written on them and even team Alpine jumped in on the craze with them using the term to refer to the 2022 plans on the social media platforms.

Even in all these commotions the question that what does the word means went unanswered and now in an interview following the car’s launch Fernando Alonso revealed his take on the ‘EL Plan‘.

Fernando Alonso said the meaning of the word, which had been viral since mid-2021, is a mystery. He said that the word that rhymes Alpine might reflect team Alpine trust in their 2022 camping adding it’s just a word game that went out of control. Fernando Alonso went on to say that the word is everywhere in his social media and he is obliged to deliver in 2022 for the fans. He added that the plan maybe not only for 2022 maybe for a longer period.

”It’s a little bit of a mystery. You know what the plan means. But it has been from the middle of 2021 this viral thing you know everywhere on social media. Trust in what 2022 could be for Alpine and also Alpine, plan. It was like a game with the letter there and now it is out of control,” Fernando Alonso said.

“There’s a plan everywhere I go, every picture I post, it’s a big thing. So, you have to deliver and we have to make everyone happy and keep going. You know the plan maybe is not only for 2022, but it also has to keep going for longer,” Fernando Alonso added.

Fernando Alonso will join Esteban Ocon in Alpine as the duo will be hoping to keep the 2021 momentum going by securing more silverware for the team.
