Lewis Hamilton didn’t look a happy man even after finishing P5 at the Australia GP qualifying as Mercedes doesn’t seem to have answers when it comes to dealing with porpoising. The results have been a clear indication of big problems brewing up in the Mercedes corner. The seven time world champion didn’t seem to have any sort of drip going into the high speed corners which didn’t help his cause going into the straights.

The W13 has been sluggish in corners and unstable in straight due to a huge amount of ‘Porpoising‘. Mercedes-powered teams have also been struggling for straight-line speed at times compared to those running with Ferrari and Red Bull-badged power units. This was visible when Lewis Hamilton was knocked out of the Saudi Arabian GP’s qualifying in Q1 itself.

George Russell admitted that the team are yet to find the ideal setup for the car after struggling to find the right balance. The Briton hinted at a setup change that could effectively help his team solve “99 per cent of our issues.” Now, Lewis Hamilton has confirmed that the team is quite a way off finding the answer to the ever increasing problems.

Lewis Hamilton left it quite late until the dying seconds of Q3 to come up with a flying lap which placed him behind McLaren’s Lando Norris in 5th. But, he was still unsatisfied. He said, “I don’t know what is coming yet, but I’m really, really hopeful.”

“So I really hope over this next week we can get as much information as we can from the race tomorrow, and I hope that we’re able to somehow figure out how we can fix something for the next race.”

“I wish I could be optimistic, like yeah the next one we’ve got something better coming. But at the moment we don’t.”

Lewis Hamilton has had it tough dealing with the issues in his car. But, we need to take our hats off for the unquestionable desire and hunger he has shown to compete with the resources he has been provided with.
