“That is the maximum that we can achieve as a team at the moment” : Andreas Seidl realistic about McLaren’s progress this season

For McLaren, team boss Andreas Seidl has a good outlook on the current campaign. The Woking-based team’s current position of P4 in the Constructors’ Championship represents the most they can do for the time being.
With brake issues during the winter testing and Daniel Ricciardo suffering from a coronavirus infection, the season got off to a rough start for McLaren. The squad was capable of scoring points once more in Jeddah after having unsatisfactory results at the first race in Bahrain.
After that, McLaren had successful weekends in Melbourne, finished on the podium in Imola, and the car received an excellent upgrade in Barcelona. Additionally, the upgrade made it possible to do well in Monaco. McLaren also partially succeeded in outperforming a Mercedes during qualifying, or at least coming close.

Andreas Seidl is being pragmatic about the season

“It’s definitely positive that after ten races we are fourth in the constructors’ championship. Because I think if you are realistic, that is the maximum that we can achieve as a team at the moment,” said McLaren team principal Andreas Seidl.
According to Seidl, finishing fourth at the end of the season would be an accomplishment when opposed to the teams they are up against, like Alpine and Alfa Romeo, who are successful thanks to their own facilities, like the wind tunnel. Seidl notes that although the team has been working on it, it is taking some considerable amount of time.
The McLaren team principal argues that in order to maintain their fourth-place standing, they must now focus completely on performing well in the second half of the 2022 season of Formula One.
