Barcelona reportedly considering selling Ousmane Dembele in January despite giving him a 2-year extension recently

Spanish media channel ARA has reported that Barcelona considers selling Ousmane Dembele in the 2023 winter transfer window. The club feels that the player’s time is up at the club and feels that they need to get rid of him as soon as possible in order to draw hefty cash with 18 months left on his contract.
Ousmane Dembele hasn’t had the best of years at the club having joined them in 2017 from Borussia Dortmund as a replacement for Neymar Jr. who went to PSG that very year. Dembele has had a tough career at the club being sidelined for the most part of his time at Barca due to injury. Despite starting off the season with a pump, he has yet again failed to present consistency and his fitness has been an issue too.
Is Barcelona being too harsh on Dembele?

Dembele had one of the best times in the final quarter of the last season providing Xavi an extra option in the wing and his form also helped Barcelona secure a second-place finish in La Liga. He also finished the season with the most assists among all the players in the LaLiga in only 21 games. He also signed a two-year contract with the club after several months of speculation surrounding his future at the club.
Despite his brilliant performance in the last few months, the club is looking to sell the player in order to draw some funds and with 18 months left on his contract, the decision makes a lot of sense. But some pundits and fans feel that Xavi and the club management need to be more patient with him and selling him might end up being a foolish decision.
