“I guess imma have to be the one to bring them together,” Magic Johnson offers to help Michael Jordan and rival Isiah Thomas make amends

Magic Johnson
It’s no secret that Michael Jordan and Isiah Thomas had an intense rivalry during their respective NBA careers, but now Magic Johnson is offering to help them make amends. In a recent interview, the Hall of Famer said he would be willing to act as a mediator between the two legendary players in order to help them move past their differences and work towards a more harmonious relationship.
Magic Johnson talked about the long-running and very public feud between the two superstar players during an appearance on the All The Smoke podcast. “I don’t like it,” Johnson said. “I think they should be done with that. Listen, we played when we played. We all had to dislike each other to win a championship. We all had to do what we had to do.
Johnson further went on to state both Jordan and Thomas’ success as businessmen was a reason to squash the beef. He said, “What Michael is doing is incredible. To be an owner in the NBA. His shoe is still No. 1. I mean, you can put all those guys’ shoe sales together; they can’t even mess with Michael Jordan’s shoes. And so and then, Isiah is a businessman himself, all the things that he’s doing. So, why are we still right living in the past?” In ‘The Last Dance’ documentary, Michael Jordan also voiced his respect for Isiah Thomas, calling him the second greatest point guard of all time behind Magic Johnson.
Recapping the Dream Team incident between Michael Jordan and Isiah Thomas

The tension between the two NBA superstars has been long-standing and well-documented. It began in 1992 when Isiah Thomas was left off the “Dream Team” roster, a roster featuring the NBA’s biggest stars from the 1980s and 1990s. Michael Jordan denied having any influence on Thomas’ exclusion.
The animosity between Jordan and Thomas grew even more intense after the Detroit Pistons walked off the court without congratulating the Bulls in the 1991 Eastern Conference finals. Sports journalist Jack McCallum in his book about the dream team said, “If we want to put a finer point on it, it was really one man – Jordan”.
Michael Jordan spoke about his disdain for Thomas on several occasions. In an interview for The Last Dance documentary, he stated, “I respect Isiah Thomas’ talent. To me, the best point guard of all time is Magic Johnson, and right behind him is Isiah Thomas. No matter how much I hate him, I respect his game.” Hopefully, Jordan and Thomas can sort out their differences and get to talk about the incredible battles between the Pistons and the Bulls.
