UFC 260: Francis Ngannou vs Stipe Miocic and Alexander Volkanovksi vs Brian Ortega targetted for the main and co-main event
Dana White could yet pull off a coup if he manages to schedule two title fights for UFC 260, on the 27th of March. With fantastic lineups already announced for the three events before that, UFC 257, UFC 258, and UFC 259. This news will bring MMA fans ,around the world, more joy.
UFC 260: Stipe Miocic vs Francis Ngannou for the Heavyweight Title
Stipe Miocic and Francis Ngannou have met once before, close to three years back, with the Champion, Miocic. winning by unanimous decision. Since then both the fighters have been on journeys of their own. Miocic has played out a trilogy with Daniel Cormier. A series which he won 2-1 and established himself as the Heavyweight champion. Ngannou has since faced five different opponents, winning four of those fights.
Ngannou, currently ranked second in the division, is a much fitter, stronger and improved fighter since that fight against Miocic three years back. Miocic is 38 and maybe nearing the end of his career, a younger opponent line Ngannou might just hasten the process.
UFC 260: Alexander Volkanovski vs Brian Ortega for the Featherweight Title
Alexander Volkanovski in the recent past has faced the previous best in this division, Max Holloway, twice. The first time Volkanovski beat Holloway to become the Featherweight Champion, by unanimous decision, and the next time successfully defended the title against him.
Brian Ortega is third on the ranking and was beaten by Max Holloway in the recent past too. Ortega won the title shot with his win against the ‘Korean Zombie’ Chan Sung Jung. Ortega made a comeback almost after two years and he looked completely flawless. That would mean this is going to be a hell of a co-main event.
