Adrian Luna signs with Kerala Blasters on a two-year deal
Kerala Blasters have confirmed the signing of Uruguayan midfielder Adrian Luna on a two-year contract. Luna will join the Kerala-based ISL club after plying his trade for the A-league club Melbourne City for two seasons.
Adrian Luna scored three goals and added four assists in 24 games for Melbourne City in Australia last season, helping them win the A-league title.
The Blasters revealed the acquisition of the midfielder on 22nd July, Thursday confirming that luna will stay with the club until the 2022/23 season. Luna is the club’s first foreign acquisition since Ivan Vukomanovic took over as manager in June.
Kerala Blasters had a disappointing run last season as they ended at the 10th position in the points table and now with this signing, they will hope to turn the tables around. Luna is an experienced player and has represented several big clubs in his career which has led the Blasters to acquire him.

Adrian Luna’s professional football career
Adrian Luna commenced his professional football career in Uruguay, where he played for Club Atletico Progreso, Montevideo Wanderers, and Defensor Sporting’s junior academies before being advanced to Defensor’s U-19 and first teams in 2010. After that, he went on loan to three lower-league Spanish clubs before returning to Defensor.
Luna continued with the Uruguayan club for additional two campaigns before heading to Tiburones Rojos and Venados FC in Mexico. The midfielder then joined Melbourne City in July 2019 and played 51 games for the club until last season.
Luna has also competed in international age-group competitions for Uruguay. He was a member of the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup side that advanced to the quarterfinals and contributed by scoring two goals throughout the tournament.
Luna was selected to serve Uruguay in the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup, where he scored the tournament’s lone goal for the country. He will now ply his trade for Kerala Blasters and will hopefully guide them towards glory.
The Kerala Blasters have named a 29-man roster for their pre-season camp, which begins on July 30th, with Luna expected to be added in the coming days.
