After the New York Knicks lost Game 3, the franchise made sure they would turn up the ante when they invited the who’s who of the city. One of them happened to be Taylor Swift.

The musical superstar hails from Pennsylvania and is an Eagles fan. However, being Travis Kelce‘s fiancee meant she had to split her support between the Kansas City Chiefs.

On top of that, Kelce’s family hails from Cleveland, Ohio, which means he supports other sports teams from the city, and has recently become a minority stakeholder of the MLB side, the Guardians.

That explains why the multiple Grammy Award-winner was seen courtside with her tight end fiance at the Cavaliers’ game in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Then, Swift appeared for Game 4 at Madison Square Garden alongside longtime Knicks fans Mariska Hargitay, and the Haim sisters.

Seeing this, Knicks radio analyst and ESPN’s Monica McNutt remarked that the Shake It Off singer should not be jumping on the bandwagon.

That hot mic moment went viral and led fans to tear into the former Georgetown Hoyas star for not recognizing Taylor Swift‘s longtime support toward the franchise. Evidently, TMZ caught up with McNutt and asked her about it.

Swifties, I appreciate your passion. I said what I said… I misspoke. I did not know. I apologize if I’m wrong, and apparently, I am wrong.

Monica McNutt said

The 36-year-old reiterated that she did stand by what she said, but also took accountability for not knowing that Swift’s Knicks fandom origins go way before even McNutt was involved with the team.

Taylor Swift helped create viral Knicks pun t-shirts

When Page Six first revealed that Taylor Swift would make her way to Game 4 of the NBA Finals, many wondered whether her Cavaliers’ supporting fiance would tag along.

After all, she did when Travis Kelce wanted to cheer for his team. Moreover, Madison Square Garden would be the location for their wedding in less than a month.

Still, he was not there, as he is not a Spurs supporter, nor does he support the Knicks. That explains why Swift arrived wearing custom t-shirts along with the Haim sisters.

The blue t-shirts with orange lettering quickly went viral as they featured puns based on the Knicks. While Este Haim wore one that read ‘Knicole Kidman,’ Alana Haim wore a ‘Knickelback’ shirt.

Swift had ‘Stevie Knicks’ written on her t-shirt. The trio later gave a similar one to Mariska Hargitay, who proceeded to wear it until the end of the game.

As revealed by the Hollywood Reporter, those puns were the ’22’ singer’s idea. She is generally known for creating puns, and these just happen to go viral. However, the public will not be able to get their hands on them, as it was a fun ‘DIY’ project for them.

Taylor Swift was being a true Knicks fan during Game 4 comeback

At halftime of Game 4 of the NBA, many fans were tearing into Taylor Swift and the other celebrities for showing up and jinxing the Knicks when the home team was down by 27 points at the half.

However, when the team started to chip away at the Spurs’ enormous lead, the musical superstar and her friends were the ones cheering the Knicks on. Swift, Hargitay, and the Haim sisters, alongside Ben Stiller and his wife, loudly cheered and danced.

They continued that spirit after the game when the pop star was captured swaying away with the Knicks’ cheerleading squad in the tunnel.

No wonder she had a sly smile on her face when Kelce had to watch his Cavs getting a thrashing. Swift was truly a die-hard Knicks fan, but did not want to show that when her fiance was suffering.
