There is a time and place for everything, and it seems Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift have seemingly zeroed in on where they want to exchange their vows and officially become a couple.
The football power couple has been teasing their marriage for months. Ever since the tight end went down on one knee, speculation has been rife about their location and timing.
Rumors swirling from a wedding in Rhode Island to Cleveland and other places have kept fans of both scouring the internet for every possible hint.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce will take their vows in front of more than 1,000 people inside Madison Square Garden.
TMZ revealed

Whatever they choose to be their surname, Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift chose to go with the Garden due to it having no windows. This means that photographers will not be able to use their bazooka lenses to try to get pictures out to the public.
Just like how they did during their engagement, it seems the couple would want exclusive rights to their wedding photos. They might release some on social media, but they do not want it to become a paparazzi fest.
Fans baffled at Madison Square Garden selection for wedding
Even though the lack of windows makes Madison Square Garden an apt location, fans felt this was a weak move on Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s part.
They felt that the iconic venue might be known for its concerts and the New York Knicks, but it is as unromantic as it can get. Moreover, they expressed that it makes it look staged rather than creating something that they can cherish for life.
A wedding at a proper, picturesque location would have made sense rather than the monstrosity that is the Garden. Check out examples of those reactions below.
How very unromantic and staged

This doesn’t seem very Taylor swift like

Having your wedding at Madison square garden mighttttt be the most annoying thing she could have done idk

Who has their wedding at MSG?! Is this a thing? I would think it would be on a private island. This tells me that marriages, for publicity or other reasons, still happen
— MRG (@MRG11212) June 5, 2026
Why? I guess they want a spectacle

What a dumb venue for a wedding to big I don’t believe this- with all the beautiful spots – botanical gardens – Hudson yards- Ellis Island –
— Luna (@roohmanc) June 5, 2026
Why? Neither is from NYC. MSG is a sports/concert venue, this is all a spectacle there’s no real love

they don’t want to get married, they want a spectacle! 🙄

Swift has a soft corner for the Garden for a couple of reasons. Not only has she performed there eight times, but she is also a New York Knicks fan. Along with the security of having a private wedding, being able to cater to 1000+ guests makes it sensible.
Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s wedding to get NYPD security
It seems fans did not take into account the security requirements when it comes to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding. The musical superstar is globally popular. Hence, the guests she invites will be equally well known.

The tight end’s list might look smaller in comparison. But if the likes of Patrick Mahomes and his teammates, maybe LeBron James, with whom the Kelce’s have a good relationship, and others, that security will be needed.
That explains why they chose Madison Square Garden. TMZ revealed that the NYPD will be roped in along with private companies to ensure none of their high-profile guests face a problem.
With the way fans are behaving after the Knicks win a playoff game, expect a similar, if not crazier, response from fans when they line up outside the Garden in the hope of getting a glimpse.
If the multiple Grammy Award-winner can draw millions to her Eras Tour, a decent turnout is capable of disrupting the lives of New Yorkers on the last day of work.
