The women led the charge for WWE to begin the proceedings at Survivor Series on Saturday evening in San Diego. It opened with the women’s WarGames match. Charlotte Flair and Asuka were the starting members for their respective teams, with both women relying heavily on their veteran instincts. Since Flair had won the advantage for her team on SmackDown a night before, Iyo Sky joined her next.

‘The Genius of the Sky’ came face-to-face with Asuka and had also brought a trash can lid. Despite numerous attempts to clock her former Damage CTRL cohort with the weapon, Sky couldn’t nail it. However, she eventually did when the former women’s world champion executed a drop toehold on ‘The Empress of Tomorrow’, causing the latter to fall face first on that lid.

Becky Lynch was the next to make her way out, and she cracked Sky with a single kendo stick shot right into her abdomen before Charlotte Flair caught her. Flair and Becky then had a brief staredown before these two horsewomen of WWE started duking it out. ‘The Man’ hooked Iyo Sky, and ‘The Queen’ did so with Asuka to showcase who’s got the better suplex in a move they pulled off simultaneously.

Alexa Bliss joined the babyfaces to make it 3-on-2 against the heels, and she dropkicked the trash can lid into Asuka’s face. ‘The Goddess’ momentarily nullified Lynch and went over to her tag team partner, Flair. Kairi Sane joined team Asuka to even the playing field, and she neutralized the duo of Flair and Bliss.

‘The Pirate Princess’ saw an airborne Iyo Sky coming down from the top rope and decided to take a wild swing with the trash can lid at her face. AJ Lee was the fourth woman to join the field for the babyfaces, but Lynch didn’t let her enter the WarGames structure.

‘The Man’ had closed the cage door and held it tightly. Lee, however, detoured into the ring by climbing on the cage and taking out Sane & Asuka with a high-flying maneuver.

‘Big Time Becks’ saw everything unfold in front of her eyes, and she was shocked to the core. It was Nia Jax‘s turn to bring in that muscle factor into the match, and her arrival did just that. The match picked up pace once Rhea Ripley emerged to a thunderous pop, and she’d brought some toys with her. She was carrying a trash can and a bag full of kendo sticks.

Once the Aussie wrestler single-handedly took out her opponents with the kendo stick working in her favor, she started doing the trademark Iyo Sky emote, with the ‘Genius of the Sky’ initiating it. Jax, from behind, blasted both Ripley and Sky but got taken out by Bliss with a tornado DDT.

It was finally the turn for the last woman to enter the match, i.e., Lash Legend. She made a statement from the get-go by ragdolling whatever came in her way. Legend traded blows with Ripley in one of the most exciting aspects of the match. ‘The Boujee Bully’ overpowered ‘Mami’ and even had ‘The Eradicator’ down for a near pinfall.

The biggest highlight of the match came when Sky climbed on the top of the cage and dove off it with a trash can around her body. Lynch had somehow escaped the brunt of it but was eventually made to tap out by AJ Lee’s Black Widow submission maneuver.

CM Punk give the women their due flowers after incredible WarGames match to kick things off

While the night ended on a terrible note for CM Punk, he didn’t miss out on giving a shout-out to the women who got Survivor Series off to a flyer. Taking to his Instagram Stories, the ‘Best in the World’ posted a graphic of those five women, including his beloved wife, AJ Lee. In fact, he’d even advocated for the women to get the main event spot.

Speaking on the Up & Adams Show prior to Survivor Series, Punk openly admitted to him being biased about the women’s WarGames going on last as his wife was in it. But selfishly speaking, he realized that the men will main event considering the star power involved. For most of the fans, the men’s WarGames match was a sheer disappointment with its ending leaving the audience up in arms.

An anonymous figure wearing a black hoodie entered the ring and super kicked Punk. He then executed a Curb Stomp on the World Heavyweight Champion. For a moment, it appeared as if the masked figure would unmask himself as Seth Rollins. However, he vanished from the crime scene, allowing Bron Breakker to spear the ‘Second City Saint’ for the win.
