- A'ja Wilson signs a three-year, $5 million supermax contract with the Las Vegas Aces, the largest in WNBA history.
- She becomes the first player to win four MVP awards and leads her team to a third championship.
- LeBron James and fans celebrate her achievement, while some backlash arises regarding the size of her contract.
By the time the 2025 WNBA season ended, A’ja Wilson had firmly established herself as the undisputed best women’s basketball player across the world.
In 2024, she made sure the regular-season records of total points, points per game, field goals made, total rebounds, and most defensive rebounds were hers.
Those accolades helped her win her third regular-season MVP award, but she was not content. She elevated her game to not only be the first-ever player to win four MVP awards, but also powered her Las Vegas Aces to their third championship.
After that victory, she was overjoyed with emotion and credited her boyfriend, and Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo, for ‘believing in her.’ Now, her team has proved their belief in her.
A’ja Wilson, the WNBA’s first-ever four-time MVP, is signing a three-year, $5 million supermax contract to return to the Las Vegas Aces, sources tell me and Andraya Carter. The deal, which is the largest in WNBA history to date and fully guaranteed, was negotiated by Jade-Li English of Klutch Sports Group.

It was already understood that A’ja Wilson would earn the league Supermax of $1.4 milllion. However, to get the largest contract in the league’s history was something many felt she truly deserved.
LeBron James leads fans’ appreciation for A’ja Wilson
Klutch Sports helped A’ja Wilson land this WNBA-record deal. No wonder one of the first people to show excitement towards this news was the agency’s most important client, LeBron James.
The Los Angeles Lakers superstar was not alone, as fans across the sporting spectrum congratulated her on getting the deserved credit entry in her bank account. Check out examples of those reactions below.

Well deserved and glad she didn’t take a pay cut. Got her money and the stacked team https://t.co/VsxxdAukey

She deserves this and more. I know Mark Davis probably would've paid her Las Vegas's entire salary cap if he could.

Historic moment for A'ja Wilson and the entire WNBA.

Four MVPs and now the biggest deal the league has ever seen.. that’s not just dominance, that’s legacy being written in real time. The bar just moved.
Biggest deal in WNBA history… and she still might be underpaid 👀

Only one that deserves that much😮💨

Even if A’ja Wilson had signed on the $1.4 million supermax base, fans would have still felt it was deserved. But the Aces made sure no other player was going to feel as if they were close to the 6’4″ superstar’s caliber, at least monetarily.
A’ja Wilson claps back at haters
While most sports fans were happy for A’ja Wilson, not everyone was in the same boat. In fact, the Las Vegas Aces superstar started to face some backlash over the sheer size of her contract.

Ooo, why y’all in my mentions talking about greed and the bible?

The 29-year-old forward/center wrote this on the social media platform despite noticing the backlash was across all mediums. She has long locked her X page, where most of the hate exists. The South Carolina star is unmoved by this backlash as she knows she truly deserved it.

A’ja Wilson and her Aces teammates will now be looking to defend their title when training camp opens on April 19th. The pressure will be on them, as free agency has helped reset the entire league and create quite a few championship contenders, at least on paper.
