Aleksandar Rakic thinks he can stop Jiri Prochazka – Is he the right matchup for Jiri?
After Jiri Prochazka’s incredible performance last weekend, Aleksander Rakic believes he might be the one to stop him. The “Rocket” responded to Daniel Cormier’s reaction to the fight of Prochazka vs Reyes on Sunday. While there are talks of who Jiri should fight next, Rakic thinks it is him.
Jiri Prochazka took on Dominick Reyes in the main event of the UFC Fight Night event on May 2nd. Jiri put Reyes out cold in the second round with a spinning elbow. The light heavyweight fighter was deadly the whole fight. MMA experts and fans believe that only the champion Jan Blachowicz. But Aleksander Rakic responded to a tweet of ESPN MMA quoting DC and he thinks he can stop Prochazka.
Daniel Cormier on his show with ESPN’s Ariel Helwani spoke about the Jiri’s fight and said, “I think he’s special…He’s an avalanche going downhill and there is nothing that is going to stop him unless you can knock him out, and I don’t know who can do that outside of maybe the champion Jan Blachowicz.” Aleksander Rakic responded saying, “Hey DC, I know a guy…” referring to the Rocket himself.
Should Aleksandar Rakic fight Jiri Prochazka next?
Aleksandar Rakic is currently ranked #2 in the UFC’s light heavyweight division. Though his main aim is to get the title shot, Jan Blachowicz has offered Glover Teixeira the opportunity to win the title. Aleksandar Rakic doesn’t have many options and fighting Jiri could be a great option.
The Rocket is coming off a win against Thiago Santos at UFC 259 this year. Though many fans claimed that fight to be boring Rakic has come through with some amazing fights. The fighter is coming off a 2 fight winning streak and has a record of 14-2-0 in his professional career.
After last weekend’s fight, Jiri must have climbed the ranks given that he beat #5 Reyes. Beating Rakic could solidify his spot for the title shot. And that goes to Aleksandar Rakic’s situation too. What do you guys think?
