When in Rome, get in the grind and start building! But when in ‘Down Under’ Oceania for UFC 312 PPV, get groovy to the laid-back program along with fight-loving fans. That is exactly what Alex Pereira did during Fight Week. The light heavyweight champion will soon corner Sean Strickland during the UFC 312 PPV card main event.
“Poatan” recently broke the tease about cornering his holistically angry middleweight friend Sean Strickland at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney. While Alex Pereira and grappling coach Plinio Cruz has been training “Tarzan”, others joined in. Charles Oliveira and Tai Tuivasa were guest fighters this week for the UFC 312 PPV Media Q&A.
Even Alexander Volkanovski joined them on stage with mediator Daniel Cormier. Welterweight Jack Della Maddalena also joined them for the UFC 312 PPV Media Q&A. However it’s Pereira doing his pre-fight locker ritual dance along with “Do Bronx” and ‘Shoey’ man Tuivasa that went viral. The trio have had an amicable friendship for more than a while now. Oliveira and Pereira are close friends and respect each other immensely; they even starred on the historic UFC 300 card. Poatan often goes viral dapping it up backstage with him while attending some PPVs. After Strickland’s UFC 302 victory, Pereira also visited Sydney’s West Air Locker Training’s Rouse Hill gym. He went viral sparring and partaking in pool trick-shots with Tuivasa. This link-up has gone quite viral.
Fight fans react to the ‘Chama’ dance gaining traction, feat. Charles Oliveira and Tai Tuivasa
Some fighters and their all-around disposition just fit well with fans. Fan-favorite specialist and UFC lightweight Oliveira is one. Heavyweight Tuivasa hitting Perth or other places to ship and snip a ‘shoey’ with fans is another. Then there’s “Poatan.”

The almost-always stoic and stone-face Alex Pereira is unintentionally comical at times. Additionally, he even engages with fans amid his meteoric rise in popularity. Pereira has his own affair other than Sean Strickland’s UFC 312 title-fight PPV rematch. The Brazilian has his next assignment at UFC 313 main event, March 8 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, where he meets the dominant Magomed Ankalaev.
However, he gets down to business – and any other curriculum when need be. Ankalaev has trained at Xtreme Couture before, but his bond with “Tarzan” is deeper. Such attributes from an otherwise silent fighter make him grounded and a fan favorite. Here is what fans think of the iconic step-to-step dance:

A bloated 400 lbs Tuivasa was naturally a hot topic. Some jibed this is the most cardio he did in weeks. However, it didn’t matter when ‘groovin’ with the boys’ on a private yacht! A prime reaction on socials (@SpinninBackfist on X) even states it as it is: “The boys getting down for fight day.”
To his discredit though, Tuivasa does fall off his boat! A ginormous 6′ 4″ Pereira almost touching the ceiling was also a thing. As was the fact that he will corner at UFC 312 and doing ‘Chama’ steps when he should be prepping for a tough fight. Even prime analysts have pitched it on that. However, most have enjoyed this ordeal.
