Aljamain Sterling just made his featherweight debut with a win at UFC 300. He is eyeing his next matchup and head coach Ray Longo has something interesting to say about it. Longo recently said on the DraftKings YouTube channel that he is confident in whatever decision Sterling makes.
Legendary coach Ray Longo recently sat down for a conversation with Jon Anik and Kenny Florian. During their discussion, Florian brought up Aljamain Sterling‘s callout for Movsar Evloev. Longo was not aware of this but said:
If he calls out somebody, he's seeing something that he thinks he can exploit. Whatever their game is they're not going to be able to implement on him.Ray Longo via Anik and Florian
Ray Longo reportedly is not that active on social media. That is why he was surprised to hear Sterling has eyed Evloev as a potential opponent. During the post-fight press conference, Sterling had called out Brian Ortega.
Longo said that Sterling is at a point where he knows what to do. As a coach, he just likes to back him on whatever decision he makes and steer him in the right direction. Sterling began his amateur MMA career in 2009. Eventually, he started training at Serra-Longo after leaving The BombSquad in Ithaca, New York, a few fights into his professional career.
Who does Aljamain Sterling want to fight: Brian Ortega or Movsar Evloev?
Aljamain Sterling beat Calvin Kattar by unanimous decision. At the post-fight press conference, he even mentioned wanting to fight Ortega. Next, there were discussions of Evloev being a potential matchup for the former bantamweight champion. So who does Aljamain Sterling want to fight?

In a recent YouTube video, Sterling made his clear statement. Aljo officially declared that he wants Brian Ortega next. Sterling said that apart from Max Holloway and Alexander Volkanovski, Brian Ortega is the top-ranked contender in the division. After beating Calvin Kattar Sterling wants the next best guy.
The former bantamweight champion believes that beating Ortega would automatically put him in a position where he is in line for a title fight. He said if he had put out Calvin Kattar at UFC 300, his name could have been thrown in the mix right then and there. However, will the UFC give Sterling the fight that he wants?
