Twitch was initially started as a game streaming service but with time twitch has evolved as well. Twitch introduced the Just Chatting section few years back. For past few years streamers like Amouranth are exploiting the Just Chatting section with 18+ and NSFW streams. Amouranth demonetization is the new hot topic in the Twitch community.
Amouranth demonetization
Amouranth is one of the main reasons behind the whole HOT TUB META. For months Amouranth streamed 18+ NSFW content on Twitch. Amouranth revealed her channel is demonetized which means there will be no more advertisements on her channel. She claimed that Twitch never informed or even warned her about this demonetization, which is not surprising observing Twitch’s prior behaviour regarding the bans.
She posted this update on her Twitter account where she wrote, “Yesterday I was informed that Twitch has Indefinitely Suspended Advertising on my channel. Twitch didn’t reach out in any way whatsoever. I had to initiate the conversation after noticing, without any prior warning, all the ads revenue had disappeared from my Channel Analytics. This is an ALARMING precedent and serves as a stark warning that although content may not ostensibly break community guidelines or Terms of service, Twitch has complete discretion to target individual channels & partially or wholly demonetized them for content that is deemed “not advertiser friendly”, something that there is no communicated guideline for.” she added, “This leaves open-ended the question of where the line is drawn. Many people complain about ToS being ‘unclear’ but at least there’s something to go by. There is no known policy for what results in a streamer being put on this blacklist. With characteristic opacity, The only thing twitch made clear is that it is unclear whether or when my account can be reinstated.”

This Amouranth demonetization situation got mixed reaction from the community. Although other “Hot Tub” Steamers and their fans got absolutely furious on the other side other regular streamers were kind of happy about this situation.
xQc Views of the Situation
xQc is the biggest streamer on Twitch right now with 5.7M followers. Option from someone like xQc was much needed. In the past xQc has roasted Amouranth alongside the whole Hot Tub community on Twitch. This time on his stream he said, “It could be a sign from the Amazon-owned streaming platform, that they are beginning to crack down the “Hot tub Meta” which is controversial and going on for weeks. This situation is a “big topic” for all Twitch streamers, this could create headaches for other streamers too.” on the same stream he further added, “I think people should wait for at least a couple of days until Amouranth made the communication with Twitch. This is a big topic which can create problem for many streamers. As there is a lot of streamers who do the same content that she does. You guys would all say, ‘Look at the other guys that aren’t being banned.’”
Pokimane Views of the Situation
Pokimane was also asked about the Amouranth demonetization situation on her stream. On this topic she chose to stay silent. Although in her recent hot tub stream where she memed the “Hot-tub meta” by doing a stream wearing a shirt with a bikini is printed on it. That’s clearly indicate her views on the “Hot-tub meta” as a whole.
