At the same time, she has also seen her beau’s team face a lot of heat for the way they ended their season. For someone who has seen both triumphs and tribulations in the past three years, she always tries to stay positive.

It is possible that that energy may have spread to Wendell Carter Jr. and his Magic teammates. After facing humiliation in the first play-in game, they have started to respond in kind.

But what Angel Reese and the rest of the basketball universe did not expect was the way they would play against the Detroit Pistons in Game 1 of their first-round playoff series.

This was the 23-year-old showing her excitement after the Magic stunned the East’s No. 1 seed Pistons in front of the opposing fans. From the opening tip, the former took control of the game and never relented.

An away win is crucial as it sets the tone for the rest of the series. Angel Reese’s excitement is likely to continue if the Magic win more games. That is ironic considering she was allegedly dating Pistons center Jalen Duren and even repped the team’s gear last year.

Other than being excited about the Orlando Magic’s surprising Game 1 win, Angel Reese was also happy for her boyfriend’s performance at Little Caesars Arena.

She reposted a highlight from his game that starts off with leading superstar Paolo Banchero dribbling the ball as he analyzes the floor.

After a couple of dribbles, Jalen Duren starts to walk towards the Magic forward with the intention of trapping him into a double team.

But as soon as he does that, Wendell Carter Jr. streaks towards the rim, and Banchero zips a lob to him, the Magic center finishes easily with a dunk.

Usually, that play might not make it to any other players’ highlight reels. But that is because the 27-year-old big man had a quiet but impactful game.

He finished with 17 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and handed out five assists. Along with his contributions on defense and his efficiency with the ball in his hands, Carter Jr. finished the game with the best +/- of anybody. That speaks of his impact.

While Wendell Carter Jr. and his Orlando Magic were playing the Detroit Pistons, he did not have Angel Reese cheering him from the sidelines as she was doing during her offseason.

Now, she has had to go back to work with WNBA training camps starting on April 19th. She now wears the No. 5 jersey of the Atlanta Dream, which means she can only catch her boyfriend’s games on television.

But what she can do is meet Atlanta-based celebrities, or those coming into the city for a concert. That was what Cardi B was doing, as part of her Little Miss Drama Tour, an opportunity Angel Reese was not going to miss.

The Maryland native caught up with the Grammy Award-winning artist backstage and gave the rapper her new threads. A social media post shows Cardi B holding Reese’s No. 5 Dream jersey, as the two stand together to pose for pictures.
