Anthony Edwards jokingly said he would have beat up Minnesota Timberwolves teammate Karl Anthony-Towns had they lost after he fouled out

With their backs against the wall, the Minnesota Timberwolves finally managed to win Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals. After all, they were staring at getting swept when Karl Anthony-Towns got into foul trouble in the third quarter and fouled out toward the end.

However, it did not cost them the game. Anthony Edwards joked that had it been their final nail in the coffin, he would have beat up his superstar teammate. That is what he said as a reporter asked the duo about the foul trouble late in the game.

Even though it was a joke, there is a good chance Anthony Edwards could have at least confronted Anthony-Towns had they been swept. But thankfully, it was not to be as the superstar big man put up the best performance of this series despite being constrained by those fouls.

He shot 70% from the field and took more shots from inside the three-point line than he did outside. This efficiency was crucial considering that the Dallas Mavericks endured a bad shooting night from their two leading superstars.

Had they not taken advantage of that and won the game, it would have been embarrassing for the young team. They have established themselves as title contenders, but their first three games in this Western Conference Finals were woeful. So much so that many were quick to write them off before tonight’s game.

Karl Anthony-Towns gets praise from the Inside the NBA crew

After this press conference, the Inside the NBA crew gave praise to the way Karl Anthony-Towns played tonight. Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley were particularly impressed with his interior game. The way he took advantage of the size mismatch and took care of his shot selection was what they advocated for throughout this series.

Off slow, but he (KAT) responded nicely. Listen, as a big man, you can't be mad at nine to 13 four or five. From the three, I got a couple silly files but he hit some timely shots. And threes threes. I didn't want to retake but like Chuck always says they look good when they go in. But he play well, you know, when both of those guys play well together, they're tough to be, they know the previous games.

Then Kenny Smith suggested that the All-Star big man would force the Dallas Mavericks to adjust. They have not played against this version of the Timberwolves. Which means, they will have to figure out ways to slow him down. Else, this series will not end soon. They will also have to fast-track the return of Dereck Lively II.

Else Anthony-Towns will have it easy, and the Minnesota Timberwolves could be the first team ever to win a playoff series despite being down 0-3. This is a scenario that will be embarrassing for the Dallas Mavericks.
