Novak Djokovic vs Alex Molcan : Preview
Novak Djokovic reaches his 3rd final of the year and 2nd on Clay with his victory in the semi-finals. His purpose of getting extra practice at Belgrade for the upcoming French Open 2021 where he is seeded 1st has turned out to be great as he is on course for the title.
This was the first match in the week where the Serbian was taken into the deciding set as he defeated Andrej Martin 6-1, 4-6, 6-0 in 1hour and 55minutes. This was also the second consecutive match where Novak dished out a bagel in the final set to clinch the victory.
Alex Molcan reaches his first Clay final after having played on Clay for nearly 5 months this season. The 23-year old Slovakian has been very busy on the Challenger level reaching the last rounds but somehow failed to reach a final despite making 2 semi-final appearances this season.
He started at the Belgrade Open from the qualifying rounds and after winning both the rounds reaches finals on the back of 4 consecutive straight-set wins in the main draw. He won his quarter-final against Spanish veteran Fernando Verdasco dishing him a bagle in the 2nd set, comes into the finals from a 3-set win in the semi-finals in 2hours 42minutes.
Novak Djokovic vs Alex Molcan : Head to Head
This will be the first ever meeting between the duo, hence the head-to-head stands at 0-0.
Novak Djokovic vs Alex Molcan : Prediction
Novak certainly looks the favourite to win the match and the title. With his semi-final win he goes 10-3 for the season on Clay and has looked very dominant this week in his hometown. However, Molcan would come in with great confidence and a record of 23-8 for the season in what has been an amazing week for the young Slovakian who has been ruthless in his wins so far in his journey to the finals.
Prediction: Novak Djokovic to win in straight sets.
