The Indian team suffered a one-sided 66-run defeat against Australia during the first ODI at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Virat Kohli’s men scored 308 while chasing a mammoth total of 375 against the Aussies. The home team outplayed the ‘Men in Blue’ in all three departments of the game.

Both the sides will now meet at the same stadium for the second game of the three-match series. Team India will lock horns with the opposition in a must-win clash from 9:10 AM (IST) onwards.

Team Preview

Australia

Australian Cricket Team

The Australian team looked in terrific shape during the previous encounter at the SCG. Their top three players: David Warner, Aaron Finch and Steve Smith scored the major chunk of the runs. On the other hand, Glenn Maxwell found his lost IPL form as he played a great finishing knock at the end of their innings.

Adam Zampa and Josh Hazlewood emerged as the pick of the bowlers in the bowling department for the Aussies. The only concern in front of them during the first game was the lack of form for Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins. Moreover, they need to improve their fielding from the previous encounter.

India

Indian Cricket Team

The Indian team failed to put up an impressive performance during their first international game amid the coronavirus pandemic. India’s top-order (except Shikhar Dhawan) failed to put runs on the board, bowlers (except Mohammed Shami) had an off day, and the fielding looked sloppy too. Indian skipper Virat Kohli admitted after the match that their body language was also quite defensive.

Team India might go with Shadrul Thakur or T Natarajan in this game in place of Navdeep Saini as the latter had some back issues before the start of the series. Moreover, they need to solve their concern of sixth bowling option in the absence of Hardik Pandya’s medium pace.
