Before the Thursday night fixture between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons, Baker Mayfield took a page out of Jared Goff’s book. The Buccaneers quarterback had a complete makeover as the first participant of Eli Manning’s new project ‘Undercovers’ on Amazon Prime.
The platform released a 30-minute introduction video, showcasing Mayfield’s transformation into Bucs super fan Gus Swayze, who once had the dream of playing professional football, which ended because of a bad knee injury. Judging the promo, it was shot at the Advent Health Training Center (Buccaneers facility).
Mayfield’s Tampa teammates right tackle Luke Goedeke and left tackle Tristan Wirfs were dumbfounded to see him in a hipster look with long hair supported by a bandana, a mustache wearing an old raggedy Bucs t-shirt, and a wrap around his right knee for his old injury.

Baker Mayfield stuns Buccaneers fans with a 50-yard throw
The way the makeup artists tuned Baker Mayfield’s face with external touch-ups, anyone who hasn’t met him face-to-face would find it hard to recognize him. It was solid enough to fool even the rookies, center Graham Barton, tight end Devin Culp, and wide receiver Jalen McMillan, who were watching things unfold.
The short clip showed Mayfield standing amidst some of the local Bucs fans at the facility. One of the staff members asked who had the best arm strength among them, and the Sooners graduate limped forward without hesitation, drawing a slight chuckle from the crowd.
Mayfield took aim, and with one giant heave, he threw the ball 50 yards, which sailed over the receiver standing in the middle of the turf. In one fell swoop, the 29-year-old made everyone’s jaw drop. One of the old timers, wearing a firefighter helmet, was so bewildered that he blurted out,“What the hell was that!!!”

No one was doubting the skills of Gus Swayze anymore; instead, they clapped hard in appreciation.
Baker Mayfiel’s journey with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Baker Mayfield has reinvigorated his NFL career at Tampa Bay after bouncing around several teams in the initial stages. From the Cleveland Browns to the Carolina Panthers and then the Los Angeles Rams, Mayfield never saw proper game time, but he always had the talent and brains mixed with the arm strength, which he showed in the clip.
The Bucs needed a new quarterback after 7x Super Bowl winner Tom Brady retired. Mayfield offered himself, and they gave him a shot, which was one of the best decisions ever taken in NFL history.
In his first year, he led the Bucs to the NFC divisional playoff round for the first time since Brady. Mayfield even bagged a two-year extension and is already paying them back by a 3-1 start to the season by beating the Commanders on opening day and then winning against the Lions and the Eagles.
Baker Mayfield so far has played 21 games (before facing the Atlanta Falcons in week five) for the Bucs. In those games, he has thrown 455 completions for 5028 passing yards, 239.4 yards per game (96.9 passer rating), 36 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.
