Week 5 of the 2024 NFL season is here and with the bye week’s starting, only 14 games will be played. To start, the Thursday Night Football game will be between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Atlanta Falcons. In a game that will feature two teams fighting for a playoff spot, this Falcons vs. Buccaneers battle is expected to be exciting.
The only cause of concern is the number of injuries the Buccaneers are dealing with. They have almost one-third of their squad dealing with something or the other. With the clock winding down, how many of them end up playing is still there to be seen. On the other hand, the Atlanta Falcons will probably have almost every starter looking forward to play.
All those starters will look to build on their impressive improvement over the first four games. A full-strength Tampa Bay Buccaneers would have been a good test of their growth. But even with those injuries the Buccaneers are facing, a win against a playoff contender will look good on the season standings.

Why can the Atlanta Falcons win?
The Atlanta Falcons have had a whirlwind first four games so far. In those games, one aspect does stick out. Kirk Cousins is starting to find his feet in this offense, and the receiving core is adjusting to him faster than expected.
On the other hand, the Falcons defense has fans excited. Their play might not pop up on the stat sheets, but their resilience has helped them win games against solid opponents.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, even at full strength, should not be a problem for the Falcons. Their confidence is on the rise and their core is playing well. Under HC Raheem Morris, they play the right way and have won games. But as is with sports, all those injuries the Buccaneers are facing could end up being a blessing in disguise.
Why can the Tampa Bay Buccaneers win?
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could have been joint league leaders. If not for that freak loss to the Denver Broncos, Baker Mayfield and his teammates could have been sitting at 4-0. With that record, this week’s injuries would not have mattered. Instead, now they do, as they have a tough schedule up until their bye in week 11.
But their injuries are not helping them. So much so that even the oddsmakers are not favoring the Buccaneers.
For instance, their defensive front and three starting O-linemen remain sidelined and have yet to fully practice. Even though it is possible that they will suit up come gameday, how much their health impacts their game will be there to be seen.
