Week 4 into the 2024 season and the Philadelphia Eagles are struggling to win games. In the first two games, their defense played well enough to win. Whereas in the other two, the once-vaunted Eagles’ defense played badly enough to register losses. In the last game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Eagles safety CJ Gardner-Johnson was shown as the culprit.
On the podcast, The Edge with Micah Parsons, the Dallas Cowboys star pass rusher and Darius Slay had a moment where they relived Gardner-Johnson’s game. They talked about how he talked trash prior to taking on the Buccaneers.
At the end, star wideout Mike Evans’ touchdown made the Eagles safety look bad. Micah Parsons and Slay were joking about how CJ Gardner-Johnson could not live up to his trash talk. Darius Slay was clear that he has had talks with his teammate before about backing up any trash talk.
𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚: #Eagles fans are extremely upset that CB Darius Slay Jr. went on Micah Parsons's podcast to react to teammate C.J. Gardner-Johnson giving up a TD vs. the #Bucs after pregame trash talk.

In essence, they both were poking fun at the Philadelphia Eagles safety. In the previous game against the New Orleans Saints, the safety had the last laugh after the Eagles won. It was the perfect revenge game for him after they traded him away early in his career. But one game later, as he tried to build on that trash talk, it backfired.
The game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was not going to be easy. But the Philadelphia Eagles were high in confidence after stopping the high-flying Saints. It seems Gardner-Johnson was buoyed by that as he continued to dish out some choice words before lining up on the field. At the end though, that energy did not work out.
Eagles fan did not appreciate CJ Gardner-Johnson getting trolled by his own team leader
Trash talking is part of any form of sport. Some do it whereas others prefer to let their play do the talking. CJ Gardner-Johnson has had a mix of both for quite some time.
But he is not the first athlete to have to eat their own words after their trash talk backfired. No wonder Philadelphia Eagles fans were raging when Darius Slay joined a rival to troll his own teammate. Especially, when he himself was part of the same defense that bore the brunt.
Fans took to social media to voice their anger. The post has since gone viral and attracted almost 8 million views. Check out some examples of those comments below;
Take that C off Slay, he is not a leader

Nothing worse than your team getting clapped and you see them giggling with a division rival on a podcast

You’d never see this from Malcolm Jenkins, Brian Dawkins etc

The Eagles are headed over the cliff. https://t.co/FOMQ715FyE

As an eagles fan I don’t like this one bit! It’s unnecessary, you want your own podcast cool, but getting on one with a cowboy that was trash talking your teammate and you’re laughing about it, is softtt, especially during the seasonn

Didn’t slay get cooked by Drake London

Bro should not be laughing
CJ Gardner-Johnson will most likely come back with a vengeance against the Cleveland Browns after their bye week.
But if he takes this trolling to heart, it could bring more problems into the locker room. Something the Super Bowl-contending Eagles would not want.
