Did Tyreek Hill make a mistake leaving the two-time Super Bowl defending champion in 2022? Well, sports analyst Stephen A. Smith certainly believes so as the star receiver barely exceeds 200 yards in the last four games this season.
Since Tua Tagovailoa‘s concussion in week 2, the season hasn’t been going too well for the Miami Dolphins as they recorded their third consecutive loss this season. Hill particularly struggled to make an impact and finished Monday’s game with four receptions and 23 yards.
Meanwhile, his former team, the Kansas City Chiefs is thriving once again with a four-game winning streak, after winning their second consecutive and fourth overall Super Bowl trophy earlier in February.
In the recent episode of ESPN’s First Take, Smith stirred the pot by declaring Hill’s decision to leave Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs as the “greatest mistake” ever made by an NFL player. Although Hill gained more prominence after joining Miami, he missed the chance to earn two Super Bowl rings if he had stayed in Kansas City.
He further argued that even if Tagovailoa returned, he could not be relied upon as before because of the alarming concussions he endured during his short NFL career. While he isn’t on the field, Hill has nobody to throw football at, in order to score points for his team.
Tyreek Hill skips post-game press conference after Dolphins’ loss
After the ugly loss against the Tennessee Titans on Monday, which marked the three-game losing streak for the Dolphins, the eight-time Pro Bowler ditched the post-game press conference and left the locker room. The Dolphins said that the star receiver often leaves the locker room before the media interaction.
Since he was already frustrated by the game, he decided to skip any media interaction post-game and get through the disappointing night. Regardless, his absence from the locker room media interaction is considered a violation of the access policy because all players are required to speak to the media post-game.
Although Hill’s frustration was reasonable and understandable as the media also didn’t complain about his absence, he has become subject to scrutiny for avoiding the reporters as the league doesn’t believe in making an exception for any player.
