Bellator MMA’s CEO, Scott Coker, has made a name for himself as a major fighting promoter. Furthermore, Coker is good at developing talents that get him compared to UFC CEO Dana White. Hence, some people view them as rivals even though Bellator and UFC remain far apart.

There’s a lot of talk about Viacom wanting to pull out of the fight game, which would leave Bellator and Showtime boxing stranded since Viacom owns them. White initially responded to this news from Bellator’s end by stating that nobody would want to purchase the promotion. However, White again commented on the situation and said it would be nice if Bellator stuck around. Subsequently, Coker responded to White’s comment by saying, “We have a great company, and when you talk about clear number 2 in the space, nobody has the fighters we have. Nobody can pack this arena better than us other than the UFC.”

Coker’s statements amidst the rumors about the potential sale or merger with PFL reflect his confidence in Bellator. Hence, Coker expressed his confidence in Bellator’s future, citing the growth of the promotion’s talent and its capacity to draw large audiences.

Rumors about Viacom wanting to sell started four years ago, and people believed it was because of financial issues. Many people felt that Viacom did not want to deal with legal complications that may arise from ongoing anti-trust legislation. However, that remains a rumor at this point. It will not be a surprise if someone else buys Bellator.
