Shocking scenes as former champion Patricky Pitbull’s cut is left untreated for 5+ hours following Bellator 288

Pitbull was left without medical care for over 5 hours following Bellator 288
At Bellator 288, Usman Nurmagomedov faced off against Patricky Pitbull Freire for the Bellator Lightweight Championship. It was Patricky’s first title defense since winning the belt from Peter Queally at Bellator 270. Pitbull has faced some of the best lightweights over the course of his career.
However, at Bellator 288, he lost the belt to Usman Nurmagomedov in a lopsided unanimous decision victory for the Dagestani fighter. This made Usman the youngest-ever champion in Bellator history. However, the loss wouldn’t be the worst thing to happen to Pitbull at the event. During the fight, a cut opened up on Patricky’s left eye.
And his brother, Patricio would reveal in a tweet, that after the event, the former champion had to wait for over 5 hours to be sent to a hospital, and at the time the tweet was sent, they were still waiting. “Illinois Commission don’t serve for shit! Not a single doctor on site to stich my brother. We were sent to a hospital, treated like shit for more than 5 hours and still waiting! @bellatormma needs to have a medical team ready to do that on the events. Not the first time”!
Reacting to this tweet, MMA analyst Aaron Bronsteter wrote, “Really bad look here. No fighter should have to endure something like that after a fight, let alone a (now former) champion like Patricky.” And he is not wrong, having a fighter of Patricky’s caliber being meted out of this kind of treatment really is beyond sad.
Patricky Pitbull vows to reclaim his lightweight title following a loss at Bellator 288

Following his loss to Usman Nurmagomedov and the shenanigans that ensued after, Patricky took to Twitter to congratulate the newly crowned champion. However, in the same tweet, Patricky Pitbull also declared his intention to get back to the top and win his title back at the Lightweight Grand Prix in 2023.
“Congratulations Usman, you have great talent. I was too cautious and wasn’t myself in the cage last night. Never got into gear. It won’t happen again. Next year starts the Lightweight Grand Prix and I will claim the title and the prize. Write that down,” wrote Patricky as he vowed to reclaim the belt. Despite being of the opinion that Usman was handed the opportunity to fight for the title based on his last name, Pitbull was humble in defeat.
Being a veteran of the sport, Patricky Pitbull has faced some of the biggest names in the sport like Michael Chandler and Eddie Alvarez. And at 36, this may very well be his last chance to reclaim the title he lost. However, beating Khabib’s cousin and now pupil, the undefeated Usman Nurmagomedov, will be one of the hardest things he will ever have to do.
