Usman Nurmagomedov and Islam Makhachev are ready to defeat Patricky Pitbull and Charles Oliveira
The Dagestanis believe they can conquer the lightweight division in mixed martial arts. Usman Nurmagomedov backs himself and his teammate Islam Makhachev to dethrone the Brazilian champions Patricky Pitbull and Charles Oliveira in a title fight.
Usman Nurmagomedov made the headlines earlier with his amazing win against Chris Gonzalez at Bellator 283. The Dagestani fighter has extended his undefeated record to 15-0 after his latest win. The fighter is chasing his cousin, former lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov, and wishes to continue his legacy. Another fighter who is looking to carry the torch is, Islam Makhachev, who fights for the UFC lightweight title next.
Islam is booked to fight the people’s champion, Charles Oliveira at UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi. This is one of the biggest fights of the year where two huge fighting nations go head-to-head. Islam is a favorite to win the fight and Usman believes the Dagestani teammates can take over the lightweight division in UFC and Bellator MMA.

‘We will beat these guys’ – Usman Nurmagomedov makes a bold statement
In a recent tweet, after his win against Gonzalez, Usman wrote, “Islam Makhachev vs Charles Oliveira and Me VS Patricky Pitbull. Dagestan VS Brazil, we will beat these guys every time.” Usman was the #3 Bellator MMA lightweight going into Bellator 283 and the Dagestani believes he has done enough to deserve a lightweight title shot against Brazilian champ, Patricky Pitbull.
After his win against Gonzalez, Usman, with the help of his cousin, Khabib Nurmagomedov put the Bellator MMA lightweight division on notice. “Usman, now he is coming to his own. He is getting better every fight, and I think he is at 50 percent of his potential and he is going to be the future Bellator champion.”
It will truly be a stellar accomplishment for Team Khabib if his teammates manage to get the lightweight titles in two of the biggest MMA promotions. This will be a huge statement from the entire region of Dagestan.
