“If I had a dollar for every time I heard this!” – Ben Simmons being 100% healthy to return to play basketball has fans in splits
The often injury-plagued Ben Simmons is entering his final year of his contract.
Ben Simmons
Throw up the name Ben Simmons and the immediate reaction from the majority of the NBA fraternity is that of disappointment. He had everything going for him. Size, speed, athletic ability, and most importantly a brilliant playmaker. But injuries and confidence issues have taken a toll on the once-All-NBA player. Now reports of the Brooklyn Nets guard being healthy have drawn reactions from fans.
The New York Post ran a report today talking about the progress Simmons has made in this off-season. They spoke with the former All-Star’s agent Bernard Lee.
Ben has been doing his rehab and prep work for the upcoming season in Miami. He is through the rehab stage and has moved on to strength and conditioning. Because there have been so many starts and stops previously, I’ll simply say he’s in a great place and the expectation is he’s able to start the season 100 percent of himself ready to go.Bernard Lee said
He was suggesting that Ben Simmons finally has his back issues sorted and is ready to play, as next year will be the last of his current contract. The criticism the former All-Defensive player has faced so far has been with availability. He has missed 2 years of playtime in the NBA. For a 27-year-old, that is a major red flag. Such red flags are enough to throw teams off.
Add to that his lack of confidence in taking shots, and teams may not want to sign him onto their roster. That brings his upcoming season as a defining point in his career.
Reports of Ben Simmons’ health has fans losing it
Given his injury history and reluctance to take a chance to get onto the NBA court, basketball fans are not convinced with this new piece of news. Ben Simmons has done everything so far to prove these reports wrong. Therefore, fans do not even have any past proof to justify these claims. On the contrary, such reports have come out before, only to disappoint fans of a potential return.
No wonder they took to social to react negatively to this latest news as well. Check out some of those reactions below:
Ben Simmons can change the notion. For that, he has to play more than enough games. He also has to show that he can take charge of a now depleted Brooklyn Nets and show some semblance of his past self. Only then will a team be willing to take a chance on him.
