Bo Nickal had just five professional MMA fights before he fought Cody Brundage at UFC 300. The decision to put Nickal vs. Brundage in the main card of the PPV garnered criticism from the fans. With just two fights in the UFC, Nickal was the biggest betting favorite on the card.

Nickal won the fight via second-round rear naked choke submission. However, he was not happy with his performance. As he got up after Brundage tapped out, he booed himself and showed two thumbs down. The crowd had also booed him as the fight was wrestling-centric, much to the audience’s dismay.

The crowd cheered for the underdog Brundage. In a moment in the second round where Brundage threw off Nickal, the crowd rampantly showed their support for the underdog. Brundage had also rocked Nickal in the first round, but Nickal took him down and neutralized the threat. Nonetheless, Brundage did indeed defend the various submission attempts from Nickal.

After the first round, head coach Marc Montoya urged Brundage to follow the game plan and push the pace. However, he could not do it as Nickal easily took him down and eventually bagged a submission. Even though the fight lasted a little over a round, the fight did have good grappling and wrestling much to the happiness of commentator Daniel Cormier.
