Canelo Alvarez faces a daunting challenge as he is set to fight Dmitry Bivol. This could be the toughest opponent he has ever had to face in his career, that spans over 15 years.
In his quest to greatness, Dmitry is just an obstacle, but to overcome it he has taken a life altering decision that could be a deciding factor. The Mexican has to take on a contender that heavier than him, something he isn’t familiar with. To make matters worse his opponent is definitely the strongest and the most scariest in his division.
Dmitry Bivol is unbeaten and has a perfect record after 19 professional fights and since November 2017, the Russian holds WBA World Light Heavyweight title and has successfully defended it 7 times.
Canelo Alvarez turns to Veganism to ensure his victory
If Canelo Alvarez defeats Dmitry Bivol, he will become a two-time World Light Heavyweight Champion.
This feat is only achieved by a small number of Latin American boxers. To accomplish this, he must defeat a taller, stronger, heavier, and more powerful man. Since he was a child, the Mexican fighter has competed as a Super lightweight.
Bivol, on the other hand is a 175-pound natural fighter, whohas excelled in this weight class throughout his career. He has also won titles in the weight classes of 160, 168, and 175 pounds.
In an interview for an inside scoop wit ESPN, Canelo tells how he turned vegan, saying, “I’m not very complicated when it comes to food, I adapt a lot, I adapt quickly. It’s not something I did all of a sudden, that I left what I ate before, from one day to the next. All week I try to eat what is vegan and if one day I eat something else, meat, chicken, whatever, I eat it, there is no problem. But I do try to stick to eating vegan all week. I feel great, my body has adapted very well. I feel strong and my stomach is very good. I recommend it actually.”
The Undisputed Super Middleweight Champion admitted that his daily workout routine consists of nearly eight hours of physical activity. Canelo Alvarez spends three hours a day at his gym, practicing boxing and other fitness drills. After that, he goes to his golf course for four hours, before finally running in the evening.
