“Next fight for four belts”- Dmitry Bivol ups the ante, calls for a fight against Canelo Alvarez at super middleweight
Canelo Alvarez faced his second ever loss in his professional boxing career against Dimitry Bivol last Saturday. The fight was for the WBC light heavyweight title which Bivol successfully defended against the Mexican.
However, This didn’t affect Alvarez’s toughness or his mindset. Soon after the fight, Alvarez responded saying:
“Boxing is like that, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. But always with your head held high. I stay with the great fight that we offered to the people. We will fight again and we will win again.”
Thai shows how confident he is for his comeback inside the ring. But, the question was will Bivol agree to fight him again. Since the ball is in his court now he can fight according to his terms. Even though there exists a rematch clause in their contract, Bivol will certainly have the upper hand in determining the other regulations. However, Finally the WBC light heavyweight champion has spoken and shed light on his plans.

Dimitry Bivol wants the rematch against Canelo Alvarez in the super middleweight division
After the illustrious win against one of the greatest boxers of this era, Dimitry Bivol appeared in an interview with Behind the gloves. While talking to Michelle Joy Phelps, the Russian revealed that he wants to fight for all the four belts in the rematch against Alvarez. Bivol stated that he is down to fight in Canelo Alvarez’s natural size.
“His natural size is for less weight, and mine too. Maybe next fight for four belts in his division” said the Russian.
If the fight happens then WBC, WBO, WBA(super) and IBF super middleweight titles will be on the line. Moreover, Since Canelo is eager for a rematch and the fact that he lost to Bivol, the offer from Dmitry is certainly valid and rational.
However, Alvarez hasn’t commented on it. What do you think? Should Canelo put his four belts in the line for the rematch or try to defeat Bivol again in the light heavyweight division. Do let us know in the comment section.
