“I’m a student of the game” – Jake Paul claims he’s fallen in love with boxing and that there’s no turning back

Jake Paul has been busy continuing to fight for women’s boxing as he had always said and recently joined hands with famous boxing promoter Eddie Hearn in order to promote Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano.
Paul has been an advocate for women’s boxing as he listed it out as his life’s mission to help fighters who risk their lives to get better pay and healthcare.
Ever since his promotion company ‘Most Valuable Promotions‘ took multi-division champion, Amanda Serrano, under their wing, it’s been the team’s goal to make sure women’s boxing is able to take its place at the forefront of combat sports.
Now that seems to be the case as Hearn and Paul have come together to set up a super fight between Serrano and undisputed lightweight champion Katie Taylor in a deal that is expected to make both women boxers at least seven figures.
‘The Problem Child’ was later interviewed at Madison Square Garden where the women’s fight will be held and was asked which boxers inspired him to get him into the sport to which he replied, “You know uh, Ali is always up top of the list but you know uh, Hagler, Marvin Hagler is just like such an exciting fighter. I’ve gone back and watched a lot of his fights and you know the things he says and he’s just such a great inspiration with his work ethic.
“But, you know, I’m a student of the game now and I’m trying to like dive in headfirst, and like Eddie has said I’ve fallen in love with it and there’s really no turning back you know, it’s boxing. Boxing’s my life and Canelo‘s whole thing is ‘No boxing, No life’ and even though I want to fight him, I tend to agree with em.”
Eddie Hearn stands up for Jake Paul and says he doesn’t deserve the criticism he’s dealt
Jake Paul has been at the forefront of two sports and seems to be doing it all. He’s fighting, calling out big names, and at the same time fighting for better fighters’ pay and healthcare.
Fans are at a crossroads with people being divided between liking the 5-0 boxer and hating him. Many of them believe he’s making a mockery of the sport but Eddie Hearn doesn’t seem to think so.
On the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani he said, “I think fighters, because of what they’ve sacrificed, sometimes hold it against Jake Paul and say, ‘Well, I’ve been grinding in the gym for 15 years!’ Yeah, but you’re not good enough and you haven’t built the profile that he’s built. Why shouldn’t he be allowed to do that? He’s put in the work in the gym. He’s fallen in love with the sport, genuinely, and I think he’s good for boxing. I think he brings a different kind of audience.”
When asked by people about his opinion on the Youtuber turned boxer he said, “I promoted his first fight, two years ago. I started this mess. I put him in against a YouTuber, and the best way I can describe Jake is, people say to me, ‘Do you like Jake Paul?’ And I say, Jake — the terminology is different in the U.K. — plunker, grade-A plunker, dipstick. But I like him. I don’t mean that disrespectfully. Half the time, I think he’s on a wind-up. You know what I mean? Like, we were doing a media scrum today and he was talking about fighting Canelo, and I’m looking at him going, ‘Are you just laughing inside?’ And I think it’s a little bit of both.”
