Canelo Alvarez
Most Marketable Athletes for the year 2021 was recently released by SportsPro. Mexican Boxing great Saul Canelo Alvarez came number 4 in the list. Alvarez has had a brilliant year as is the case always. He has fought twice so far. His first fight in 2021 was against Avni Yildrim. A total mismatch. Alvarez thoroughly outclassed the Turk and knocked him out in only the third round (RTD) to retain the WBA, WBC and The Ring Super Middleweight titles.
He then took on the previously undefeated Billy Joe Saunders and knocked the Brit out in the eighth round (RTD). Canelo Alvarez in fact, shattered BJS’ orbital bone. And now, he is set to take on yet another undefeated fighter Caleb Plant on the 6th of November.
In a recent list released by SportsPro, Canelo Alvarez came number 4 on the list of Most Marketable Athletes for the year 2021. The list was dominated by soccer (Association football) and tennis players, with a few Basketballers and Cricketers. He was the most marketable male athlete. Simone Biles (Gymnastics), Naomi Osaka (Tennis) and Ashlyn Harris (Soccer) filled up the first three spots.
Most Marketable Athletes: Canelo Alvarez only combat sports star in the entire list

Alvarez was also the only combat sports star on the list of 50 athletes released by the website. He had an influencer score of 177. The split-up read – 12 for Frequency, 37 for Engagement, 31 for Fan Attract, 55 and 41 for Reach and Fan Demo respectively. The website uses data analytics powered by Zoomph.
There was no place for Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury or Deontay Wilder on the list, nor was UFC’s Conor McGregor featured in the list. Should Alvarez keep continuing his exploits in the boxing ring, he is set to remain as the most marketable boxer. He has hardly been hurt in any of his fights. The Mexican is just 31 and is already a veteran of almost 60 fights.
Alvarez will be looking forward to seeing off Plant when he takes on him on the 6th of November. Beating him will make him the first-ever undisputed super middleweight champion in the history of Boxing.
