Canelo Alvarez reveals being glad about leaving Oscar De La Hoya’s promotion. De La Hoya, the former professional boxer, is one of the most successful and popular boxers of his time. He won multiple world championships in different weight classes during his career and became known as “The Golden Boy.” However, his life after retiring from boxing is filled with different controversies. Especially his work relationships with others have mostly failed, and it is a very known fact in the fight world.
De La Hoya has been a mentor and promoter for Canelo Alvarez since his early boxing days. He initially guided his career and helped him become a prominent figure in the world of boxing. However, due to various reasons, Canelo left the Golden Boy promotions. While talking about the incident in his latest interview with the Nelk Boys, Alvarez mentioned having no regrets about his decision.
He said: “Yeah. I’m glad to go away from him. He’s f**** crazy. I think nobody who knows close (like him) . I don’t know, he’s f****** crazy. He’s hypocrite. He don’t have nothing, no loyal. That’s why he don’t have any fighters left.”
According to the Mexican, De La Hoya wasn’t loyal and was a crazy and hypocritical individual. Alvarez mentioned that due to his lack of loyalty, fighters are ready to work with him and his old fighters are leaving his promotion.
Oscar De La Hoya gives mindful advice to the younger generation of fighters
Like many top athletes, Oscar De La Hoya has been on both sides of the spectrum when it comes to his public image. At the height of his boxing career, he was widely celebrated for his boxing skills, good looks, and charisma. He was seen as a symbol of success and resilience in the sport of boxing.

However, Oscar De La Hoya‘s public image also faced challenges and controversies. Some critics questioned his choice of opponents at times, and he had his share of detractors. Additionally, his battles with substance abuse and personal struggles, which he has been open about, added complexity to his public persona.
But this doesn’t change the fact that, when it comes to boxing, he does know what he’s talking about. Recently, the fighter made a tweet in which he talked to young boxers about their opportunity to become a legend or earn substantial money. He advised boxers to stay in the gym and being prepared is key. According to the legend, they should not train to get ready. Boxing must be their life, so they should make it their life.
