Canelo Alvarez will NEVER be idol in boxing world if he doesn’t fight David Benavidez, claims boxing promoter Sampson Lewkowicz
David Benavidez’s promoter, Sampson Lewkowicz, stated that Canelo Alvarez has to fight Benavidez to solidify his boxing legacy

November 25th’s main event was a nail-biting affair and one of the best fights we’ve seen in a while. Furthermore, it all came to an end when David Benavidez stopped Demetrius Andrade‘s in the 6th round via technical TKO. Subsequently, Andrade’s corner stopped the fight in the sixth round after Andrade was clearly dominated. The fight concluded and made fans and boxing promoter Sampson Lewkowicz anticipate a future bout against Canelo Alvarez.
With an undefeated record before the fight, David Benavidez successfully defended his WBC interim super middleweight championship. Hence, making him a mandatory challenger next for Alvarez’s super-middleweight WBC title. Both fighters have reached the pinnacle of the middleweight division and have displayed dominant performances against their opponents. Hence, the middleweight clash between the two Mexican boxers will be a sight to behold for boxing fans and experts. Furthermore, while speaking about the potential bout, Lewkowicz stated, “If Canelo fights Benavidez, he will be an idol, but if he doesn’t fight him, he will never be an idol”
Hence, Lewkowicz stated that, regardless of the outcome, if Alvarez fights Benavidez, he will further solidify his boxing legacy. However, if Alvarez doesn’t fight him, then he will never be a boxing idol because he avoided this fight. Furthermore, Lewkowicz stated that if Alvarez wins, he will prove that he is the best in the middleweight division.
Subsequently, Lewkowicz stated that even if Alvarez loses, it will prove that he had the resolve to fight for the best. In addition, Alvarez stated in his last fight that he is afraid to fight anybody and that nobody can beat this version of him.
David Benavidez called out Canelo Alvarez after his fight
In his last fight, Benavidez achieved a dominant victory at Las Vegas’s Michelob Ultra Arena over Andrade with a 6th-round TKO. Following the victory, the Mexican boxer expressed his desire to fight only against Alvarez in the future.
During his post-fight in-ring interview, Benavidez first wanted to remind everyone who was the real champion at 168. Subsequently, Benavidez mentioned how all the boxing fans wanted to see him fight against Alvarez next. Furthermore, Benavidez stated that he also wants to make that fight happen, just like the fans.
In addition, Benavidez stated that he is the youngest super-middleweight champion in the world and a three-time world champion. Hence, Benavidez feels that he deserves to fight Alvarez next to prove who is the better boxer.
