Conor Benn revealed he was edging closer to a highly anticipated clash with Chris Eubank Jr. Their previous bout was derailed due to Eubank’s positive PED test. However, Benn was resolute in settling the score and potentially ending Eubank’s career.
Benn’s confidence shone through as he boldly proclaimed that he intended to dismantle his opponent, leaving no room for a comeback. Talking to Matchroom Boxing, he said:
Listen, I will dismantle him. I will ruin him… I’ll put him into early retirement…I give him two or three rounds, tops, and I end his career.
Benn anticipated a swift conclusion. He predicted his opponent would not last more than two or three rounds. Conor intended to be the one to write the final chapter of Chris Eubank Jr.’s career. Addressing the negotiations for the upcoming battle, Conor Benn assured the public that they were nearly at the finish line. He stated that details like ring walks and name order are trivial matters. He would not accept any excuses once he faces defeat.
With an air of determination, Benn summed it up. He said that this lingering rivalry needed a decisive end. He intended to do just that—put Eubank to bed for good and allow him to retire on his own terms.
Chris Eubank Sr. calls out Conor Benn for major weight difference
Chris Eubank Sr. has made it clear that he strongly opposed the idea of his son, Chris Eubank Jr., stepping into the ring with Conor Benn. Eubank Jr. recently fought a highly anticipated rematch with Liam Smith. In the aftermath, he wasted no time in extending a challenge to Benn during his post-fight interview. Promptly, Eddie Hearn initiated discussions with both fighters, eyeing a possible late December bout.
During an interview with Boxing Social, Eubank Sr. voiced his reservations about this proposed matchup. He stressed that his son’s weight exceeds the limit for a fight against Conor Benn, and he believes that Benn should face an opponent more suited to his weight class. Eubank Sr. stated:
You’re looking for a Eubank…Now you have a proper Eubank to go up against… pick on someone your own size…8lbs is the difference between the weight classes…it should not be allowed and people should be told to stop their nonsense.Chris Eubanks Sr. via Boxing Social.
Chris Eubank Sr.’s point was clear. He believed that such a significant weight difference made the fight unjust. He called for a more level playing field.
