UFC superstar Conor McGregor is arguably one of the most popular athletes of this generation. Widely known for his flamboyant personality, his loud mouth, and his brilliant striking ability. ‘The Notorious’ is also known for its controversies outside and inside the octagon and is known to be one of the main reasons for the growth of the UFC over the years.
Conor is no stranger to callouts to fighters and this time, it happens to be former four-time world super-middleweight champion Carl Froch and super-middleweight world champion George Groves. This is not the first time the Irish have called out a boxer to a fight. His fight against long-time rival Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather that took place in 2017 is regarded as one of the most popular fights ever.
After Froch said that he could beat Conor McGregor in a cage because he is ‘small’ on his podcast, Conor accepted the challenge and demanded boxing promoter Eddie Hearn set up the fight. However, Conor tweeted at Froch alongside his rival George Groves, who he beat in 2014 in the rematch. The threat against Groves came as a surprise to fans as the super-middleweight fighter had not slighted Conor in any way, shape, or form.
Froch and McGregor have had various back-and-forths prior and this one seems to be an add-on. Conor seems willing to accept Froch’s invitation to fight him in the octagon. Hence, the threatening tweet against him and his contemporary, George Groves.

Who could be a good potential match-up for Conor McGregor in the boxing ring?
Fighting in a boxing ring isn’t anything new for ‘The Notorious Conor McGregor. He has taken a dive into deep waters before when he fought Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather in 2017. Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather is known as the most popular combat sports event of all time. Apart from Floyd, Conor has been compared to other boxers who are a potential match-up for the Irishman.
If McGregor returns to the ring, twelve major world title winner Manny Pacquiao would be considered a good fight for ‘The Notorious.’ The two world-class athletes have come close to fighting each other in the ring back in 2021. After the Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier 2 fight, McGregor’s victory was supposed to be a mark for the next fight against Pacquiao. But, since Conor lost the fight against Poirier, the potential boxing fight fell off.
Since Youtuber Jake Paul‘s boxing fight line-up has been victories against MMA fighters, it is only fair that Conor steps up to the plate. The main interest in this fight is the fact that Conor has been open about his detest towards Paul. ‘The Problem Child’ has also insulted McGregor and his wife calling her a “4/10” which sparked outrage from the MMA community.
Jose Aldo and Conor have had a lot of history together. On the night of UFC 194, Conor defeated Aldo, 13 seconds into the first round emerging victorious. Recently, after Aldo got hit with a ‘draw’ in his boxing match against Jeremy Stephens in the Gamebred 4 event, Conor offered to step up into the boxing ring to fight
