Big MMA fights happen all throughout the year. The lightweight match-up between Justin Gaethje and Max Holloway remains a must-watch fight. They face each other at UFC 300. Furthermore, the winner of this fight will take home the BMF championship.
At the press conference for the event, the reporter mentioned Gaethje vs. Holloway at UFC 300. Furthermore, the reporter asked if Alvarez could face his winner in an MMA/boxing crossover event. In response to the same question, White said that a crossover fight between Alvarez and the winner of Gaethje and Holloway is unlikely to draw much interest from fans.
Canelo Alvarez discussed fighting Kamaru Usman
In the first six months of 2022, the former UFC welterweight champ Kamaru Usman continued to push for a fight with Alvarez. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ said he remained open to a boxing match with Alvarez, who had repeatedly said he would never fight in MMA.
However, in an interview with TMZ Sports, Alvarez suggested that a potential fight could take place in the future. Alvarez currently holds the super middleweight WBA (super), WBC (super), WBO (super), IBF (super), and The Ring (middleweight). The Mexican super middleweight champion is coming off a September 2023 unanimous decision win over Jermell Charlo.
Alvarez will make his return to the ring on May 4th, 2024, according to ESPN Mexico. The Mexican outlet also reported that Alvarez could fight either Jermall Charlo or Jaime Munguia next. However, neither fight has been officially confirmed yet.
