Deontay Wilder remains confident as he looks forward to a potential clash with Anthony Joshua. Fans have anticipated this heavyweight clash ever since Joshua and Wilder were undefeated champions in 2015. However, they never met in the ring, and Wilder accused Joshua of avoiding him several times. Recently, Wilder recently revealed his unexpected encounter and conversation with Eddie Hearn during a 10-hour flight to Los Angeles.
Their encounter was unplanned and shocking because both had hurled several insults at each other for years. However, they buried the hatchet and had a cordial conversation where they discussed a future fight with Joshua. During an interview with 78SPORTSTV, Deontay Wilder revealed what Hearn told him. This is what he said:
Hearn told me if we both win, the fight's gonna be on. So I'm looking forward to finally getting Joshua in the ring.Deontay Wilder via 78Sports TV
Hence, Wilder revealed that his interaction with Hearn was friendly, regardless of their prior beef and statements about each other. Furthermore, Wilder stated that Eddie Hearn spoke with the Saudi adviser at the Royal Court, Turki Alalshikh, about the Wilder vs. Joshua bout.
Subsequently, Hearn told Wilder that their fight would happen if Joshua and Wilder would win their fights on December 23. In addition, their upcoming fights in December are going to further build up their highly anticipated bout and bring in more attention.
Francis Ngannou would like to fight Deontay Wilder instead of Anthony Joshua
Francis Ngannou recently made his professional boxing debut in Saudi Arabia at the end of October. In his first bout, he fought WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, who entered the fight as a prohibitive favorite. However, Ngannou delivered an unexpected performance against the undefeated champion and even managed to knock him down.
Subsequently, Fury won the match via a controversial split decision victory, which many considered a robbery. Furthermore, despite his loss, Ngannou’s performance has opened several doors for him in the boxing world. In an interview with The Last Stand Podcast, Ngannou mentioned he would like to fight Wilder instead of Joshua. In addition, Ngannou revealed speaking to Hearn once. However, he did not hear of them after that.
Hence, because of their lack of interest, Ngannou would prefer to fight Wilder in the future, which would be a bigger fight, according to Ngannou. Additionally, Ngannou would first like to have a rematch against Fury before fighting any other heavyweight.
