Dmitry Bivol and Canelo Alvarez are both prominent figures in the world of professional boxing. They crossed paths in 2022. Bivol is a light heavyweight champion, and Alvarez, often considered one of the best pound-for-pound fighters, moved up to challenge Bivol for his title.

In a recent conversation on Fight Hub TV, Dmitry Bivol engaged in a discussion about Canelo Alvarez‘s latest performance. When asked about Canelo’s assertion of being invincible at the 168-pound weight class, Dmitry expressed his viewpoint. He said:

To be honest I didn’t see something new…maybe I’m wrong but it’s my opinion. He didn’t show something new, some combinations…Maybe inside he felt more confident but from outside I couldn’t see.

Earlier he was probed about his thoughts on Canelo’s performance against Jermell Charlo. Dmitry revealed that he did not watch the entire fight. He caught a glimpse of a few rounds, and from what he witnessed he had already expected all of it. He said he anticipated that Canelo would apply pressure, but he did not foresee Charlo’s lack of confidence.

Dmitry frankly said that based on what he observed, Charlo appeared to have considerably lacked self-assurance. In the end, Canelo emerged victorious, which was in line with everybody’s expectations.

Dmitry Bivol is a Russian boxer who holds the WBA light heavyweight title. He gained recognition in the boxing world by winning the WBA interim light heavyweight title in his early career and later becoming the full WBA world titleholder. In September 2022, Dmitry Bivol defeated Canelo Álvarez in a notable upset, outpunching him over 12 rounds. This result led to talks of an immediate rematch.

Canelo Alvarez’s recent bout against Jermell Charlo served as a resounding response to critics who believed his performance was declining. At the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Alvarez showcased a masterful display, dominating Jermell Charlo from the opening round and securing a clear-cut victory.

With conviction, Alvarez asserted himself, saying that his prior struggles were because of an injured left wrist that has since healed. Canelo said:

I’m a strong fighter…all the time, with all the fighters. I’m a strong man. This Canelo, nobody can beat this Canelo.

Before this remarkable performance, Alvarez experienced a loss to Dmitry Bivol, causing him to lose his pound-for-pound ranking. In a surprising twist, Canelo also disclosed his aspirations to face Terrence Crawford.
