The Mike Tyson vs. Douglas fight took place on February 11, 1990, in Tokyo, Japan. At the time, Tyson held the title of the undisputed heavyweight boxing champion and people considered him one of the most dominant and feared fighters in the sport’s history. While discussing the fight, Rogan stated:

He (Tyson) was the icon of our generation. He reignited people’s interest in heavyweight boxing.

Hence, Rogan stated that Tyson helped keep the heavyweight division relevant with his amazing performances and KOs. Douglas, on the other hand, was considered a significant underdog in the fight. Subsequently, Douglas had a respectable record but people did not expect him to pose a serious challenge to Tyson.

However, in one of the most shocking upsets in boxing history, Buster Douglas defeated Tyson by a 10th-round knockout. Rogan stated that Tyson’s troubles in life affected his performance immensely. Furthermore, Rogan stated that Douglas had promised his dying mother that he would defeat Tyson, and he fulfilled his promise.

Over the years, people have called Tate ‘the king of toxic masculinity’ for his views on women and depression. Authorities recently searched his house in Romania in connection with an alleged abduction, but he denied any wrongdoing.

In a recent episode of JRE featuring comedian Andrew Schulz, they mentioned Tate’s name. While discussing the domestication of males, including the concept of toxic masculinity and paving the way for modern-day society, they referred to Tate.

This prompted fans to inquire as to whether he could be a potential guest on JRE in the future. The combination of Tate’s speaking talent and Rogan’s knack for peppering guests with questions would make the potential JRE episode a must-watch.
