When it comes to boxing, few names resonate as loudly as Canelo Alvarez. The Mexican superstar has dominated the sport for years and has faced off against some of the biggest names in the business. However, there is a new challenger for the Mexican superstar on the horizon, and it’s the Mexican Monster David Benavidez. Subsequently, according to boxing promoter Eddie Hearn, this is the fight that needs to happen for the sport.
Benavidez is no stranger to the world of boxing, as he made his professional debut 10 years ago. Subsequently, the undefeated boxer has been gunning at Alvarez for a fight for several years now. However, in recent years, Benavidez appears to be closing in on Alvarez, and the possibility of them fighting keeps increasing.
Furthermore, Benavidez has stated that he will fight any potential opponent of Alvarez so that Canelo Alvarez cannot avoid him. While speaking about this potential fight, Hearn stated:

In an interview with Fight Hub TV, Hearn discussed who Alvarez might fight in 2024. While discussing the candidates, Terence Crawford or Benavidez seemed like the most probable fight to happen, according to Hearn.
Furthermore, Hearn stated that Crawford would have to make a significant jump in weight to make the fight happen. However, the fight with Benavidez is more likely to happen, and it’s the fight that fight fans wish to see, according to Hearn.
Canelo Alvarez discusses fighting David Benavidez
Alvarez discussed the possibility of facing Benavidez in their highly anticipated fight next year. At just 24 years old, Benavidez has already made a name for himself by becoming the youngest super middleweight champion in history.
With an impressive record of 28 wins, 24 of which came by knockout, the undefeated boxer has proven that he is a force to be reckoned with. In an interview with Fight Hub TV, Alvarez discussed the possibility of the WBC making Benavidez a mandatory challenger for him. Although Alvarez expressed interest in taking on Benavidez in September of next year, he made it obvious that the WBC interim super middleweight champion isn’t a top priority.
Subsequently, Alvarez suggested that fans may have to wait longer for the highly anticipated fight. Furthermore, Alvarez stated that he is always ready to do big fights, but sometimes waiting can make the fight bigger.
