A fight between the 2 Russian superstars has been the talk of the town. Artur Beterbiev‘s recent performance against Callum Smith has put him in the conversation to fight another undefeated boxer Dmitry Bivol. Eddie Hearn too gives out his opinion on the result of this potential block-buster fight.

Matchroom CEO Eddie Hearn was put under the spotlight and asked about his prediction of the fight that fans are eagerly waiting for. He had the following to say:

I always back our guys. I truly believed Callum Smith would win tonight and I truly believe that Bivol would win. But seeing Beterbiev up close – that’s the second time I’ve seen him up close – he’s actually a lot better than he was against Callum Johnson. I think he’s improved a lot. I know he’s getting older, and you hope that he’s slowing down, but he’s not. He’s actually, I mean, I thought that was one of his best performances.

This potential match-up has fans divided. Some support the boxer who has concluded every single one of his fights with a devastating KO. On the other hand, certain fans believe in Bivol’s ring IQ and resilience in the ring. The caliber of both these fighters is beyond comprehensible words. Hence, the increase in the hype of this fight has butterflies flying in many fans’ stomachs.

Now fans can only hope that the talks of this fight conclude soon. There is a lot on the line for both Bivol and Beterbiev. Neither wants to tarnish their perfect record at this point in their careers. Only time can tell whether Beterbev’s aggressive fighting style triumphs over Bivol or will Bivol use his mind to outclass and outbox his arch-nemesis.

Is Eddie Hearn being biased towards his fighters?

Eddie Hearn is a promoter. As such, he must bring the best fights for his fighters so that both he and the fighter can make good money. This aspect of his job makes him look biased in the eyes of many fight fans.

Hearn always prioritizes his top fighters such as Anthony Joshua, Canelo, and GGG. This puts him in the line of fire of fans who don’t get the fights of their wishes. Now the question arises: does Hearn have to put his or his fighter’s interest first or the betterment of the sport as a whole? This is quite a tricky question. We as fans can answer according to our views and opinions however that doesn’t make it true as we too shall be biased while answering this question.

Now we can only hope that Eddie Hearn and other promoters do the right thing. Bringing more eyeballs to the sport of boxing is all in all better for everyone associated with this sport. So in the long run fans have their fingers crossed that top fights will be organized keeping aside personal interests.
